The Xperia X1 Thread

expecting to buy the x1 and not tweaking it is like buying a chev spark to drive around the nurburgring. you gonna have to do stuff to the device to make it realize its potential.
its true that SE released the phone early to boost fiscal reports. but they will release firmware updates and patches that'll really help. thats typical of sony. they do the same thing with the ps3 all the time. i know its not the same department or factory but its the same accountant, so the same company ethos. the x1 has stax of potential, even the blind can see that...

and piesang and his ilk shouldnt buy this phone. they need to buy low end netbooks and nokia 1100s. that'll do all they want. their demands on the x1 are excessive.

i've had blood, pus and vomitus speckled over me and the phone at work. ive dropped it thrice and removed the back cover 5 times to change sim cards. (its december in the emergency room. im not a serial killer ;) )

it still looks brand new.no chips scratches or bumps. the x1 is xcellent. period.

and the other guy had to flash his x1 cos he was using a vodafone x1 on mtn. vodafones monopoly is to keep these phones fixed to their network. its called capitalist free enterprise. love it or leave it.

To be honest you sound like you work in the data room at vodacom. hehe

Tell me if you make mods to your spark will you still have a warranty? NO!!!
I know even if you make exhaust changes you lose warranties. So now why oh why would you want to buy a car/phone and make changes to it. Just buy the real thing and you have everything sorted out. Thats where the X1 didnt do its job in the first place. You buy it coz its top end and should work like a Farrari and then ends up being a fiat.

lol uli you prob right. they should have had a more polished product to release but like i said. SE is in huge financial crap. they needed boosted x1 sales to show shareholders.
just like paris hilton. she looks mighty good on paper but once you meet her, you realize she's just a well marketed average. at least with the x1 we gonna get updates. lol.

whizza, i got the install cab for sbp shell on my phone. it wasnt xperiax1.net. i cant remember where i got it from. but ill gladly email it to you if i't'll go through. its 4.42mb in total...

whizza, get the sbp shell panel for free from your x1. just open opera/ie and the default SE page has a panels link on it. the sbp panel is available for free there...

Thanks for understanding...lol.... But that still does not give SE any right to release a crappy phone.... They actually harming their own product.. Plus if Piet Boer gets one he will never even know about upgrades, firmware and all that stuff..... lol

Did I just hear my name again???

Well, My N96 and E90 never needed any hacking or custom firmware to give me what I want. The Xperia just can't keep up with my needs.

You say you dropped your Xperia 3 times???? I'm telling you that you are lying. Well, on the other hand, maybe letting it slip out of your hand while lying in bed is "dropped" then it could be the truth.

The Xperia will not be in a working order if it is dropped.

Yes, they let us test the phones and then listen to all our complaints then only they fix it.

I was part of their Product Testing Staff for one week and I wasn't even paid for it.

Seriously - you guys are going off on tangents now.
Leave the fanboi stuff - you're all going to turn into LancelotSA clones :p :D

lol. piesang, it seems like you'vr got a huge chip on your shoulder when it comes to the x1. didnt anyone ever tell you hatred only hurts the hater, never the hated?

and it didnt fall in bed. when i use it in bed its held firmly in my one (free) hand. in landscape mode. hey!!! what else use can one have for such an awesome display and such fast download speeds? lol. just kidding. the phone actually fell thrice from about 1 metre. all while trying to find car keys to open door, type an sms, chew lunch and look out for hijackers at the same time... so you guys see... some multitasking can be done with the x1...

I don't feel hurt in any way at all. How can one hate something that is lifeless??

And about the "free hand" story, well, I won't comment on that.

lol
All I can say is the less programs and specs a phone have the beta. the batery life is longer and you have less general problems with the phone.
I am just stating to wonder as my previous and curent Nokia each time it almost comes to the 24 months it starts freezing on me when it never used to. Could anyone also confirm anything like this? Could this be a ploy to get us to get new phones?

I don't know, I never use a phone that long.;)

The longest I've used one phone was about 1 year. That was the N95 and E90. I still have the E90 though but I'm not using it at the moment.

hey all
just installed garmin xt on the x1. complicated process but its almost identical to the thread on the mybroadband forums of how to install onto a nokia 6100.
lots to download, total prob over 200 mb but the install is exactly as the guy describes. only the step to get the esn is diff:

at initial screen on garmin go to connect to a garmin gps then just click skip and then no...
then try to get to the navigation map screen then get to settings then settings again
then to about
then the esn is the card id thats there....
use that id and then follow all ABUs steps...

this is a very newbie description (cos i am) to install but believe me it works...
and its free...
