The Xperia X1 Thread

I have just left cell c and i can tell you something that the service provided by MTN SP is a million times better than that offered by being with cell c. If you do it that way at least then you do not have a middle man anymore and then you do not enter problems like this!!

Yea I agree with that about MTN being better. And I am definitely going to remove supercall from the picture...It was all my mom's idea..so much for mom knows best :p

Or if you still living at home, i am sure your parents would have insurance just add it on that insurance as a all risk item (ie. one that will be moving between home etc) and that way it will be fully insured and you wont have to pay anything for it;) or you can give them a nominal fee to do it for you!! My brothers phone is insured like that and he still lives at home, again absa insurance!!

Thats a gr8 idea. tnx:D. ...Its times like these that I love my parents !!:D

now you have more money to catch on sh=t with... thats the way i use to look at it!!

Yea she has an idea about whats happening...Don't speak to mpho (excuse the spelling) she don't know the difference between a toothpick and a stylus. She has screwed me around big time !!!!!

Here is my situation

2004- open contract with cellc
2006- ported number to MTN through Supercall/autopage cellular (did this for better deal and cause my mom's MTN contract was through them)
Oct 2008- my contract term expires and I start running on a month to month basis
nov 2008- see X1 in MTN specials thing, call around and find MTN fourways getting 10 in, I order one and explain the above situation, mpho "seems" to understand and I ask "when I come in what should I bring" she replyies " money for adman fee and pay in for X1 and your mom (cause contract still on her account at supercall) and your mom should bring her I.D
20 Dec 2008- I arrive at MTN fourways and she promptly hands me phone box :o and gives all paperwork to my mom.....then all goes wrong....
Today- mpho phones and says I have to cancel my current account and cannot port because it through Supercall, so I have to give supercall 30 days notice now and that way I can re-use my current number....then I get another call from mpho and now I need to fax through payslip, 3 months bank statements, Latest invioce from supercall and I might get the phone on sat now :mad::mad::mad:

All above make sense ?
Oy sorry man, I gave her bank statements, copy of Voda account, ID and letter from company so hopefully all goes well but this is Africa so.......;)

btw does anyone know now the MTN packages work? like is it a fixed package or customizable. i.e. can you swap out some of your talk minutes for more free smses and data. Or is the R350 like a credit and you use it on whatever you want ? I have looked on the MTNsp site but all is vague

its rand value airtime, do with it what you must. You can add what ever bundles on top if you need more sms etc. But if you gonna do alot of surfing on the web, get a data bundle works out much cheaper to use bundle then use your 350 airtime.
Read the other thread about the vodacom customer service disgrace i explained a little bit there.

Lol I actually work hard for my money so it all goes inti things of value like pc hardware and cellphones and sometimes girlfriends if they lucky!!!!. in other words I use my money more wisely than most and this is evident in my purchase of the X1!!!!!!!:D

Its great. I am a huge fan of the UIQ paltform so was very nervous of moving to the Windows Mobile one. So far I am not disappointed at all.

I was sceptical about the keyboard -- on my P990 I only ever used the stylus to write with. I have not used the handwriting recognition yet on the X1 but have found the keyboard to be great. Looks like I might just become a keyboard guy (I have been a stylus / handwriting recognition touch screen guy since the days of the Palm V, then P800 then P990).

So far I am very happy.

Thats awesome to hear...just can't wait to get mine.
Does it have predictive text and an on-screen keyboard as well ?
Like on the HTC's

and I'v noticed on GSMarena.com in the X1 one specs it says that the phone has track I.D. Can you confirm this ?

Also can you confirm this feature;

Extended service and support
With your X1, you get a Support Card*. This gives you access to a dedicated X1 service network. Just call the X1 support number and get instant help whenever you need it. You can also find support on the web, and when you're abroad you have access to a special Traveller's service."" direct from SE site

Thats all good in theory Tsonge. But it's still a call centre. I called them to help with setting up Garmin on my X1, I shouldn't have bothered. All the guy tried to do was tell me that Wayfinder is pre-installed and that I should use that. For starters it isn't installed you have to do it and secondly it sucks. I just said thank you and used the guide on one of the threads here.

O ok. So it just a disappointment...o well..I'm sure the phone works so well you don't need no stupid call centre. That is works well for "most" ppl....
