The Xperia X1 Thread

just responding to earlier question about reception... not having any issues at all here. im on mtn btw.

oh and best thing i ever did was flash vodacrap off my x1

found an awwesome shortcut last nite. might be common knowledge but thought i would share anyway.... use your volume up down button to zoom in and out of pages in opera...i was always doing single levels of zoom using opera on screen menu

would you say touch flo is better than the included spb shell?

can someone link me to 'saffest' version of touch flo

hey guys

I'm writing ths from my new X1. this is the most amazing device I have ever used and I am 100% happy with it. there are just so many options to play with. you can truelly make the device an extension of yourself.

Touchflo 3d is so much better than SPB shell, its like having an HTC phone in your x1, its really awesome and nice add on to the phone.

i must have being using the early versions of the manila one because it made my x1 very unstable and i havent tried it since then.

Masasmal would you mind sending me the link to where you go your version from because im keen to use the touchflo 3d and if your version is smooth then im sure they sorted out the problems from the earlier versions.

thanks alot

hey all
im really glad this forum is finally becoming an x1 user forum instead of the place where you find out where to get the x1 or where you diss the device. lol...
my 3 cents for today:
1) best place for manila download is xperiax1.net. useful forum with many uk and eu users. the manila download is under the downloads section.
2) the garmin xt install tips have been explained earlier in this thread tsponge. just go back a few pages...
3) lots of software tweaks are available, especially on xda developers.com. the prob is these are programs in development. dont use stuff from there unless you prepared to sacrifice, including bricking your phone...

thanks masasmal... i am also glad that the forum is starting to be place where we can talk about the device and all of its awesomeness!!!

just a quick question, the garmin mobile xt on the x1 once new maps become available in the new year do you just load them normally?? Did you try and load the speed camera's files??

Oh and regarding to point 3.. i can speak first hand do not use that stuff and less you pretty sure that the files work. That is one the main reasons to the demise of my first x1.

Hi guys

Busy with the garmin install now...holding thumbs..
This phone is truelly amazing I have to say, I would recommend it to anyone, really.....
just a few questions
1.Can someone help me with Wifi setup ?
2.is there some sort of data counter to see how much i'm downloading
3.what is the easiest way to switch between apps(like if I'm in media player and wanna go straight to garmin xt or something)

tnx

K all working!!!!! gor garmin that is
Where should I be installing my apps ? om phone memory or on memory card ?

O ok thanks. The garmin software is awesome but takes up alot of space. i.e. has to be installed on the memory card.
I like the fact that an 8GB msd card is included with the phone

at initial screen on garmin go to connect to a garmin gps then just click skip and then no...
then try to get to the navigation map screen then get to settings then settings again
then to about
then the esn is the card id thats there....
use that id and then follow all ABUs steps...

this is a very newbie description (cos i am) to install but believe me it works...
and its free...
lekka

howzit guys... what neat accessories are there for the x1??

I am looking for a docking station for it, not sure if you get one though?? Also lookng for a nice case for the phone?? any suggestions??

Where can i buy this stuff in SA or am i gonna be forced to order off the web because our stores are too useless to stock stuff for us!!

Just got my X1 on Tuesday .. installed the spb panel and a couple of others and its AWESOME .. not a single freeze or reboot and hold charge for about 3 days if I manually switch the screen off with the power button. With that said .. have switched off 3g .. as Edge is perfect for me when using mail and browsing .. and Wifi is always on as I use Wifi in my house.

Have read almost this entire thread, maybe time for a new one with the greatest hits and minus all the X1 bashing and personal problems .. with that said .. Im almost sure that Piesangs probs were mostly related to earlier versions of the touchflo panel .. as I havent had a single prob (I had one of the first SE m600i's .. so BELIEVE ME .. was very pleasantly surprised .. took about 4 firmware updates for the m600 to be usable .. )

This is my first winmo phone .. and Ive been very pleasantly surprised . a few missing functions compared to the UIQ3 ive been using .. most notably - Integrated rss feeds and the popup for connection mode when plugging in USB), but I am LOVING this phone ...

Has anyone found a good VNC Viewer .. the one I got doesnt accept the keys correctly .. it seems to use the blue symbols when typing .. ie pressing "J" enters "4" ...

For those long flights and other idle time .. I highly recommend the ScummVM .. go monkey island .. lol

X1 For ever now .. wow

I respect that this is the X1 thread but I feel people who have been persuaded to go for the N96 by a certain someone should see this first

N96 main disadvantages:

* Inadequate battery life
* No camera lens protection
* The @$$#% N81-inspired design
* No office document editing out of the box
* Doesn't charge via the USB port
* Dreadful camera key
* Cheap looking keypad

Taken from http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n96-review-286.php

"N"joy your N96 while I "Xperience" my X1
Joy is something that you feel when you are happy like after a long days work while an experience is something you remember forever like love

Those disadvantages is not really a big issue. The only disadvantage I ever found with any phone was when the 3 Xperias I owned didnt work properly. Wasting 4 days of my life. My N96 is still going strong without any problems. No Windows device can go through a week without giving problems.

Why don't one of you start an x1 tips/apps, etc thread like the the iPhone and Omnia users and let this one die out?

Or rather have this one for discussions and bashings, but it would be nice to have a seperate thread like the other phones.

Just a thought.
Use it, don't use it ;)

Yeah we heard all about it :rolleyes:
