The Xperia X1 Thread

Generally, it looks like people here are excited with the X1. It has leapfrogged the Touch Pro as my favourite next phone.
mmm... I'm starting to feel that way too. Went off the X1 after Piesangs ranting but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule...

Basically got my phone, ported my number, got the phone for FREE, did you hear that Vodacom you thieves?
For FREE !!!
I am now on the 750 package and hope I will never have to deal with that Vodascum monster again.
Just waiting for Vodacom to screw up the porting and then will take some legal action on their a$$es.

Thanks masasmal, have been slack on replying! At the coast :-) Will give it a crack!!

P.S Uli, the phone works great but I like to play around and personalize my gadgets.....whether it's a phone, pc, ps3 etc.

geez now im hacked off.... what the ....

the one guy who works with me, is on vodacom, some family package contract, vodacom calls him says you can come get your upgrade, you are due... he goes to eastgate vodashop and they give him an x1 for R200 bucks !!!!!

what the hell... i paid like 5 grand dammit. and ive got 4 contracts with vodacom and i spend THOUSANDS a month with them.

think im going to go lie down on a railway track somewhere :(

(yeah i know its free on mtn etc etc and i should have ported but i got mine before i even knew that stuff...)

Guys I must say that you cannot compare this phone to any other phone out there IMO. I have used HTC for many years, using many of their Windows mobile phones, Tytn, Tytn2, I-mate, etc.
This phone is the fastest phone I have ever used, even faster than my Nokia E51.
I cannot believe how fast thins open up and how easily accessible things are. The menus are great. Tomtom Navigator is faster than on my Tomtom Go 720.

This phone blows my 3g Iphone out the water. No more Itunes - thank god.
I want to put music or videos on? I just copy them onto the phone or the memory card. Easy as that. No issues connecting up to Windows Vista 64/32 (have both)
Having a slight issue with Wifi but thats user stuff.
Touch screen is almost as good as the Iphone but I think the Iphone still is the winner here.
I can sms/mms/email at the touch of a screen button and not have to wait a couple of seconds, it opens up instantly.
I cannot believe SE made such a product well it is an HTC but even HTC have never made such a quick and responsive product IMO.
Very happy and have not switched my Iphone on since I got it :(

Totally agree, I have been a winmo user for over 4 years now n doubt id ever feel relaxed with any other OS, u just cannot do whats possible n freely available on winmo with any other OS n i think SE made this a definite winner.

how long do you guys batteries last on ave? mine hasnt been more than a day so far in the two weeks i have it...but then again i simply CANNOT put it down!

Got my x1 24 dec all was well untill i drove down to cape town had no signal half the way got back yesterday took the phone back and the tech said all it needs is a master reboot he could not get it right as the phone froze every time. he then says it is obf gets another one (sealed) opens it up and this one does not accept any sim card. so now i have to wait until friday as they got no more stock what a bummer

Sorry to hear man, luckily mine is working ok. I think maybe there was a dud batch? Not sure but it seems so. I must say the only issues I have so far are:
1) Loudspeaker is not great, not like the Iphone.
2) On the Iphone when you move the device away from your ear, the screen comes on, it has a sensor that detects when you are near the ear piece. It is a great function that is missing.

Same here with the battery, much better than my Iphone but will wait and see. How is the size of the battery? Like a little nuclear power plant :D

LOL, well all my previous winmo devices lasted generally one to one and a half days, so I aint complaining. Was just wondering since I read somewhere before mentioned that some people get upto 3 days battery life (but that could be in standby with no calls? hehe)

Maybe if you switch off 3G?
I know this drains the battery rapidly.
Do you know how to do it?
Press call
Click options bottom right
Click on Band
Select GSM not auto (the top one)

haha not possible... his bill around 500 a month.... mine 4000

Because he pays more for calls or something like that. Dont be fooled, in the end he still pays more for it. I had a long chat with a manager from Vodascum.

what marine means is his actual call rate is higher, i went to find out by Vodacom regarding that package, you pay R300 or so for the contract and then another R244 per month added (which they call a finance option) so all in all just confirm what his bill really will end up to....

exactly that .... R500 ... max like R600 he says he ever spends. i reckon he just hit it
lucky and got a dud sales dude, who has now since been sacked

u mean it was actually a mistake? and the dude is fired coz of it?
