My question thou, where will South Africa be in 2025?

/Looks up north towards [-]Rhodesia/[/-]Zimbabwe. Cringe with pain.

Or we must be come a factory / labour country (this will happen)

With our Unions/Labour issues and cost? NEVER!.

/Looks up north towards [-]Rhodesia/[/-]Zimbabwe's diamond mine controlled/managed/owned and pillaged by the Chinese masters.

We have plenty of labour. Problem is, they are unemployable!

Exactly my point, we don't have labour China does.

And they have too much. They will build and fund the factories with their Chinese citizens provided they then stay in SA after the projects Completed etc etc

How on earth would the ANC sell this or make it palatable to the electorate?

The Chinese employ no-one local except security guards. Even the guy who presses a button once every hour or so is Chinese. I've seen it a hundred times across Africa and Middle East. They come, build a perimeter fence, set up camp at site and live where they work. They contribute absolutely nothing to local economy.

Bring them I say. We could certainly use more hard working people. Certainly a China like future is preferable to the one we are currently facing ?

Sadly it will make Apartheid look like a utopia though.

20.98 when I logged on, made a phone call and when I was about to buy some Forex I see it is now 21.10

You cannot win.

Make that now 21.28

I have resigned myself to the fact that 21 is becoming the norm, just going to buy my forex now and stop looking at it

that R20/$ is looking like it'll happen much sooner then expected.

India cuts interest rates by more than expected, to 6.75% from 7.25%, which is more than expected

ZAR recovering nicely it seems, 21.12 to GBP now

@YingYang your thoughts on this?

Too early to give a confident prediction. The Indian effect is starting to wear off.

Personally my sentiment is to see what happens between 21:40 tonight and 10:30 tomorrow because the British GDP is released then. Economists are expecting a 2.6% increase. Anything less than that and the sterling will drop in value.

Whichever direction our currency is going in after tomorrow morning will stay for a few days.

13.9759 to the Dollar.

Haha.... R14 to the Dollar is going to be the new "set point". We'll of course hear how well the Rand is recovering as it hovers between R13.50 and R14.50 to the Dollar, before you now, hitting 15.
