Luckily most of my family are producers and exporters so a bad rand helps us out more than it hurts... one of my dads companies though is an importer and will be hurt by this.

We are importers ... nobody in South Africa knows how to make this stuff. And this rate is killing us! :(

The general rule is export more than import so it's good for our country.

I reckon R 8.50 is a good balance for those importing and those exporting. Perhaps even 9. So we can expect R 11.00/l by the end of year no doubt.

Agreed. Our manufacturing costs are increasingly becoming uncompetitive with the rest of the world. To the best of my knowledge our balance of trade is tipped in favour of imports, so the high exchange rate will hurt.

I hope somehow and someway it reaches above $9.5 before this year is over and remains that way for at least year.
