it is agreed by most analysts that the Dollar is overvalued, so although the Rand may not be undervalued, the Dollar will weaken
you guys need to look at it from a south african perspective and not from a dollar perspective. if we ignore what the dollar does.. it is very difficult to control the variable which is our GOVERNMENT. they have no interest in stabilizing or strengthening our currency, and apart from a regime change i dont see anything different.
things that are coming/ongoing that are bound to destroy us economically -
1. Etoll Saga
2. Nuclear Deal -- oh where o where will the money come from
3. #feesmustfall - u havent heard the end of this
4. junk status on the way

I'm in the same boat except mine is slightly more money, I got a quote for R15.89 earlier. The difference between that and R16 equates to more than R500 difference in the end.
You do realise that's enough information to calculate approximately how much you have to convert?
<---- Already did the maths![]()

You got that from "more than R500", that could be R5000![]()
what do you mean oil prices are going up? its been going down for atleast the past year
It's increased by 23% over the last 9 days. What's your definition of a trend then?
The rand is incredibly undervalued at the moment. Sentiment can't keep it so artificially weak forever. When it does correct itself it will free fall down to around 9 to the dollar. And everyone will be all surprised except me who has seen it all before.

have a look at what has happened over the last 9 months
9 days doesn't make a trend
Well it kinda does. It's over a week. It's a clear indication of where the price is currently going.
so what has happened over the past nine months is irrelevant?
a nine month trend is more of a trend than 9 days whichever way you look at it
But the current trend is still upwards, even if the long-term trend is downwards. What happened 3, 4 or 5 months ago plays no role in what's currently happening.
It sure does. Oil is technically back in a bull market.have a look at what has happened over the last 9 months
