Now Zumba has effectively pulled in the parastatals. One last full tilt to fill the kitty.

Sigh. Amazing how the highs of the election have been replaced with the crushing lows of now (also known, with this government, as the Status Quo).

Zuma's last stand.

This is a polical move I think the Roque unit had/has dirt on now high ranking ANC gang members and now mr kingpin made his move.

problem with this scenario. He's going to get more and more daring and wreckless. And our economy will bear the brunt of this power struggle :(

This current ANC is doing everything to position themselves as the bad guys. Only silver lining i can think is that they're losing more and more support to EFF, DA and non-voters (ANC supports who chose not to vote)

But how far down do we have to sink, how much more damage can be done before this lot is finally ousted

fwiw, recover seems to be in place. touched 13.96 for a moment and now hovering at the 14.00 figure.

If Hawks & co can shut it, we could recover back to lower 13's within a week or two.

So it looks like Pravin is going to be charged regardless of whether the case against him is legitimate. So does anyone want to guess at where the Rand will end up after that? I'm thinking high R15's. Not sure if it will go over R16, but it could in the initial few days as investors panic. But it will like lead to a downgrade later this year, with some analysts expecting the Rand to sit around R17/R18. Then again, they always say a downgrade is already factored into the Rand, so where will it really end up? And SARB have hinted that they could raise rates again, which will also slow the depreciation a bit.

Last night I was reading zerohedge after an entire day of drinking homebrew (potentially lethal combination) and I got this uneasy feeling that the time for the US market to correct itself might be nigh.

Should that happen at roughly the same time as the Hawks kick their song and dance into high gear the ZAR/USD rate might not be all that bad. I'm hedged against both though, bring it on!

You wouldn't become rich, everyone earning rands would just be poor. We still import a lot. Import prices may also go up as less people would be able to afford the goods, therefore your goods could become more niche (depending of course on what you buy)
