There's no going back to a capped world: MWEB CEO

Profitably, quality, contention ratios, support? - By looking at the threads on MyBB it really does not look that successful...

Awesome!

From running into problems like customers moving to other ISP, trying to sell MWeb and getting no buyers.............. to Biggest ISP

Wow, these oaks knew what they were doing, kudos - now SA has a cheap uncapped ISP, and I bet MWeb is smiling just as much

If only more ISPs see that cheap internet doesn't mean less money, it means a larger customer base, that entails you to buy bigger "pipes", and in doing so, become a larger ISP as well.

for every one person complaining there are probably dozens who are happy with the service, i pull in excess of 300gb monthly without even trying, well worth it for R500 compared to other isps who throttle users well below the 100gb mark. Mweb FTW.

I believe that soon we will see both capped & uncapped being offered at the same price. The difference between the packages will be your peak hour QOS. We are already seeing the market move that way.

March 2010 when MWEB launched their (and South Africa's) first affordable uncapped ADSL services.

How can MWeb be the first. Wasn’t there Screamer and Digichilli and some more ISP’s that had uncapped end of last year.

+1

People normally only come on forums to complain about stuff, not to praise them. If they did, we'd definitely be hearing from thousands of happy customers, like me. Also WTF is up with people saying their support is bad? By far the best I've from any SA company, never mind ISP.

Go MWEB!

Their support is terrible! We use one of their "premium" products, and have never had a response quicker than 3 days when submitting a support ticket. With our latest support request it took more than 5 days for one of their "specialists" to finally phone me, and the problem is still not fixed.

And it really sucks that they're serving Akamai content from the USA this week (last week it was from Europe) instead of from the local Akamai servers.

I moved from Afrihost's uncapped after the first month of having it. Now been extremely happy with Mweb since May.

Phone them and insist on speaking to a supervisor if the helpdesk agent can't assist you. I've never needed to do this with them in the last four months, but that's how I deal with service providers who have issues.

Well I suppose it depends on the problem, some things can't be fixed immediately. All I know is, if I phone them, there's always someone actually doing their best to get me sorted out, no-one ever says "WHAT?" if they've not understood or heard me, or just "ôké" to everything and not have a clue what you're talking about, like any other call centre. Also their tech support line is open until 10 at night, not just 9:00 to 16:00 or something ridiculous.

I wonder if another ISP will drop another bomb on us like Afrihost/MWeb did in the near future?

Keep in mind ... Mweb will most likely get cheaper then the rest as time goes on due to synergies between companies controlled by Naspers ... i.e. what they did with Multichoice ... one company will add to the value of the either, cross subsidizing and bringing more customers in ... that's the whole idea behind a holding company like Naspers.

Ive never needed to call support -
I am very happy with MWEB from Afrihost.
Add me to the _ GO MWEB _ List.

i have had mweb uncapped for some time now and i have not had as many problems with my mweb account than what i had with afrihost mweb you keep on trucking
