They laughed as she died

yeah i saw it in the daily dispatch.
very diturbing indeed.

Just wondering

Wondering if any pictures were taken of the mob themselves. Wonder what would cause someone to call a person evil, then commit murder.

Witches?
Burning Witches?
Sounds like we are back in the Dark Ages. :(

Ignorance breeds fear of what is not understood.

Yes, over 200 people where photographed dancing and laughing

Now what are the authorities going to do about this if they have photographic evidence. If she was mentally ill, imagine the other 200. Imagine their kids - their family.

Daddy - what did you do today?

I think they said something about to many people to arrest, but we will see if some clarity comes with further details. I doubt however if there will be many arrests even though most of the people there deserve the death sentance.

I remember witnessing mob justice about to be played out. Very near to where the above happened. In this instance though, an odd thing happened... the mob was carrying a guy - carrying him by all 4 limbs, some had shjamboks, some kierries. Next thing a white guy arrives at the squatter settlement in a red sports car - something exotic - a pontiac I think, and looked like he was going to join them. I left in a hurry and called the cops, and within five minutes saw the dog squad car flying to the scene. Not sure of the outcome, but I remember feeling very disturbed by it.
Eastern Cape has a bad history. The dispatch is a disturbing newspaper at times - especially on a monday (after weekend)

Human rights and mitigating factors will play a part.
So will overcrowded prisons, etc.

The problem will be ignored as if it will go away, while the next generation of delinquents are brought up to believe there is no law.

Those small things that make you think the world you are led to believe in is not the world at all.

(besides the disgusting story of course)

A witch...doesnt make you all warm and fuzzy knowing that people this uneducated are making the choices for SA.

Really is disturbing how people still do things like this, I'm actually quite gladthe pictures weren't on the website.

hard to make arrests?

200 ppl took part

arrest them all and put them away for life

not hard at all

maybe a little bit of hard work required which is the problem im sure

Dumb, racist, argumentative, over generalisation. Just plain stupid statement to make.

racist? ha ha ha ha. your statement is a great example of the stupendous generalisation and short sighted african faulty logic going on in this country!

so before you decide to make a self righteous comment try and understand what was being reflected in the comment.

didn't our former deputy president say AIDS can be prevented with a shower?
didn't a mob just kill a witch?
didn't our health minister say AIDS can be treated with beetroot?

seriously, take a look back and stop dealing with micro arguments and look at the bigger picture and you will see just how accurate that comment you so love to hate is.

expected nothing less! Keep it up

that is indeed the problem, what is needed here is education, Govt should step up to the challenge.

To all those who said the act was barbaric, and then called for the death sentence - while the act was indeed barbaric - the death sentence is even more so - going back to the dark ages ? yes we will if we go back to killing people for killing other people - what punishment is there in killing a person

They took away someone's right to live because they assumed she was a witch, and I get the idea she was 'not firing on all cylinders'. Did she kill someone? I think not. These barbarians should be locked up together where the can stone/burn/torture each other to death.
