Things I did not know before I became a parent !!

It's so special, my two both run outside and jump on my lap when I open the garage door, fun driving in with two kids trying to steer!

Only after having my first child, did I become emotional while watching sad movies/tv - even funerals hit home more.

Yep :)
She sleeps like me (does not like to wake up) so I go into her room, rub her back till she wakes up complaining then she sits up, climbs on my lap and cuddles me for about a minute till she is fully awake :) One of my favourite starts to the day.

That kids school concerts are actually brilliant pieces of literary art - and woe betide the person that says other wise, especially if your child is performing. :p

It's like the Matrix - no-one can tell you what being a parent is like, you have to experience it for yourself :)

Some other pointers:
Your TV is always on Cartoon Network - no exceptions. Spongebob becomes a family friend.
You start talking in a strange half-language
Your inner child comes out to play
You really learn the definition of pride
You really learn the definition of fear
You suddenly understand your own parents with a clarity never thought possible

Ahh, and don't forget the sibling rivalry.
As my kids get older, the bickering increases. My kids know exactly what buttons to push to annoy each other.

I never knew it was possible to love another person so unconditionally . . . and, thanks to the late arrival of the OB/GYN, that there are some sights that just cannot ever be un-seen. :o

And after nearly seven years . . . a body can in fact get by on 4-5 hours of sleep a night.

My thoughts exactly.

You learn how to listen. Usually I was the one always talking, now I don't get a word in.... She's only 6, how much does she know....how much longer can she talk. And ofcourse, acording to her, I'm always wrong.
I get this image of Spongebob talking to Squidward until he's crazy and screaming.
No matter what, she's my best friend.

You summed it up perfectly bwana :)

I must say the best thing about coming home is seeing the excitement on my kids faces when I walk in.

Just started a new job where I leave home at 5:40am and only get back at 6pm - my previous job allowed me to leave home at 9am and get home before 5pm. But the kids have gotten use to it and I just remind myself the move was for them, not me, as I want to ensure they get the right opportunities.

I never realised I would be pee'd on, vomited on and even had a projectile of number two once (was a wee bit slow in getting the new nappy on). And that's aside from all the poo nappies I have taken care of over the years

I also never realised how 'my' time would be slashed to smithereens! Money instantly becomes a scarce commodity and sleep is decimated.

Still, it is worth it all ;)
