What an unstable piece of sht. Seen about half a dozen different errors in the past 30 mins trying to get this to launch cleanly

Uninstall / reinstall...now down a sourceforge mailing list rabbit hole of similar complaints with "fix" suggestions involving anything from timezone hacks to copy around random folders.



Gonna find myself a different IDE that doesn't blow

I somehow jabbed myself in the eye during my sleep last night, so now I will be walking around with a bruised eye for a few days. I think I may have been swotting at a mosquito in my sleep as I did hear one at one stage during the night.

I think half of those are things like the Geforce Experience (pass), the 3DVision drivers (pass), PhysX and HD Audio drivers (those I'll keep but they honestly don't see updates as often as the video drivers).

I'd rather just download the video drivers separately and then maybe do the PhysX and HD Audio ones twice a year, unless there are vulnerabilities or something. I have no need for the othet stuff that gets bundled along with it. If only

Staying on the graphics card theme...the 1060 in this laptop.

Produces an unreal amount of heat. Like 80C+ temps and venting scorching hot air onto my knees (exhaust at back). Ended up clocking it down significantly yesterday. Fail

Also, doesn't Windows normally say 'update and restart' instead of just 'restart' in the start menu when updates are pending? Mine didn't say anything about updates, but I had to reboot because my Wifi and Mute buttons on the front fascia wouldn't stop flashing and misbehaving
