Why do we get that every year, then? Is there a way to avoid it? Say my basic is 20k, and bonus is 20k in Feb, I get taxed that month like I'm earning 40K, which is a much bigger hit. My boss says there's no way around it.

When you submit your tax return the amount you paid more, during February, will count in your favour when your annual PAYE is calculated. :)
 
When you've been working with a particular piece of equipment for 5-years and a user infers that you don't know what you are talking about with regards to operating said equipment. Then you walk in and within 10 seconds prove that you were right and had they followed simple instructions over the phone - instead of trying to talk you down - you'd not have wasted your time.

Morons + technology = migraines before 9 am.

In our world we have sales people calling themselves Solution Architects.

It is truly scary what they have promised clients
 
Losers. Seriously - the kind of people that fail so often professionally and personally that they give up and failure becomes the norm. They then become passive the moment things get hard and just stop trying. Then they blame sexism in the workplace for why people don't respect them.

Truly toxic to work with.

Sorta did - those not covered by my edict are less than pleased. :o Whatever. Team worked stupidly hard & deserve a break - if I catch flak for it so be it.

It is - this particular project is mission critical to employer and thanks to unique circumstances it had to be me. Got a legit deal in return. :D
 
It sort of reminds me how certain management would rather see desks full of unproductive employees than work environments that are a bit more lax but end up being more productive at the end of the day. Some employees who sit around and loaf are rewarded for their 'dedication' but those heading out and finding answers and creating solutions get nothing more than a pat on the back and more work to absorb.

But good that you are standing up for your team Havoc - I hope they appreciate you as you seem to take their interests to heart!

It's tricky...are people done early because they came up with a clever solution or did they just half-arse it & someone else spends time fixing it later? Are they clocking long hours because they want overtime or are they legit working so hard. etc.

Thanks but not entirely altruistic - I watch their backs & in return expect loyalty when deadlines call for long hours
 
Gautrain Hatfield.

W.T.F were they thinking having only 1 exit point? 4pm-5pm .. you are f-cked. Takes you longer to get out of the parking area than riding the freaking train.

Seriously.. I like the train , but the Hatfield exit is just dumb.

edit: 1 exit point (3 lanes at a robot)... 2 lanes turn into a street that crosses a heavy busy street (Stanza Bopana if I remember). So traffic gets blocked back into the parking area.
