Sitting in your car looking at the gate to the Kruger; knowing that you cannot enter the promised land.

The park's quota is oversubscribed.

We did not book ahead of time. Never had to before.

Valuable lesson learned.

/epic sigh

Be glad that they enforce those rules.

Aware that is their policy but yeah never experienced it being over quota before. That is seriously disappointing. Where to now?

People ignoring a Small Claims Court ruling.

Went with my neighbour whose tenant did a duck and also stole things out the flat (cooker, towels, a coffee table, some bedding, light fittings) to his hearing. The tenant turned up but refused to speak to the adjudicator. He was awarded the claim, plus costs. She just walked out and ignored his instruction to stay behind and make a payment plan

Getting the judgement enforced by a magistrate appears to be a daunting task. The magistrate has had the instruction for 6 weeks yet has not signed it

Yep. It was an immensely disappointing feeling. But I cannot knock the people of the Park. Conservation is more important than swamping the park.

Fortunately we're in Malalane for a few days. We did get in yesterday at around 11.

We called their reservations immediately (from outside the Malalane Gate :p) and booked for tomorrow to go in at Kruger Gate at 8. It's a hefty 160 km commute around the park (through White River and Hazyview). That'll probably just over 2 hours travelling (because the roads on this route aren't the greatest).

Kruger Gate (40 kms further) trumps Phabeni by a million to one. The upside of going in further north is that we will drive up to Satara and then meander down and out of Malalane.

Monday will can go in via Malalane, but only after 10. Happy enough with that.

Tuesday we're heading back home and will take a chance first thing in the morning (yep, without booking).

Kids smoking cigarettes.

Buckled up adults driving with unbuckled up kids (more than irritating)

You can change that, my last Sunday evening was incredible.

But steak and BBQ sauce works with your type of woman ... en braai broodjies.

Unfortunately with my prospective candidate, only sushi works for her. :(

When you purchase a vehicle to fix your transport issue but then that very vehicle breaks. FML. Then the look from the missus. I swear facing the devil is worse.

I'll take either - yummy ! :D

Do something special on Sunday, something you will think back to in the week to come.

I recall a moment last Sunday afternoon on the Kouebokkeveld, sun was at the late afternoon position, wind was gently blowing over the fields and grass. It just looked so nice and few people get to experience that. I turned to my ride partner and said "You know Sunday afternoons can be depressing, but how fortunate are we to be right here, right now?" she took her eyes off the road for a while to take in the scenery and remarked that she can't think of many other places she would rather be at the time.

That was a week ago and I still think back to it. I prefer chill Sundays and not doing anything, but when I do something like that it makes for an awesome Sunday.
