Things that please you...

I always thought, the number of elements we have, that's it, no more that exist.
Turns out, more do exist. Isn't that amazing?!
What a time to be alive.

Okay, this feels a little like bragging, but the news pleases me. My daughter in 4th year accounting had an MS Teams interview with a prospective employer yesterday. Not one of the big ones, but we felt it best not to go that route right now. The interview went well. She had a quiz to complete afterwards, which I think was successful.

Today she has been invited for a second interview in April. I am so excited for her. She has worked incredibly hard at her studies since high school (melt downs included with the stress she puts on herself) and we are hoping for a positive outcome. From a parents point of view, we have never had to drive or push her to study. We are incredibly blessed, as she has done this on her own.

We had a family outing to the Casa Nossa Portuguese restaurant on Hendrik Potgieter in the West Rand. What an amazing experience. The service and care by management and waiters was amazing. The food was divine and it was another memorable outing with the family. Well worth the visit.

Finally peeing out the pulverised remains of a 12mm kidney stone, after having a ureteric stent in for 3 weeks to prevent my ureter being blocked by swelling after the destruction operation...

**** that stent is unpleasant. Having it pulled out is just as bad. Pray you never have to.

I've had an obstructed stone before. I can believe it's like giving birth...
This one didn't obstruct, but because they put a stent in, there's nothing stopping pressure from your bladder running back up to your kidney - and your bladder contracts when you pee - felt like giving birth every time I had to pee. And the stent irritates your bladder like you have a UTI, so I was peeing every hour or more - not a great volume, but holy hell. Luckily they gave me morphine to take home.

The stent removal was a fkn nightmare, it's not done under anaesthetic (just a local). Just drop your pants in front of 3 nurses and the urologist, lie down there on the bed sir, you're free to watch the procedure on the big screen...
Anaesthetic stings like a MOFO as they force it down your one-way exit-only hole... and then the scope goes in (ouch) and then they pump your bladder full of water (ever felt like you're absolutely DYING for a pee, your bladder is cramping, but nothing can come out?).. then they start wiggling it around.

jesus.

But, it feels so good to be able to pee without feeling like I'm going to pass out.

having the munchies at 2am and foraging unsuccessfully thru the cupboards and fridge for something you feel like - then discovering a trove of ice cream in the freezer you had forgotten about !!!
