Things that please you...

Okay, this feels a little like bragging, but the news pleases me. My daughter in 4th year accounting had an MS Teams interview with a prospective employer yesterday. Not one of the big ones, but we felt it best not to go that route right now. The interview went well. She had a quiz to complete afterwards, which I think was successful.

Today she has been invited for a second interview in April. I am so excited for her. She has worked incredibly hard at her studies since high school (melt downs included with the stress she puts on herself) and we are hoping for a positive outcome. From a parents point of view, we have never had to drive or push her to study. We are incredibly blessed, as she has done this on her own.
I owe an update to this story.

Second interview went well, but she did not land the job opportunity. I firmly believe that doors open and remain closed for a good reason. If it is not meant to be, the door will not open. Tough for my daughter to accept, but she has made peace with it and will look for other opportunities in the same field.

Although in her 4th year of studying accountancy, she needs to do a fifth for the line of work she wants to do. My daughter has thus far paid for her 4th year from her part time employment, which is admirable. We will continue to support and strongly encourage her in her endeavours.

This is not the end. It merely marks the beginning of tenacious journey that she is determined to succeed in. Kudos!

Best of luck to her! It's tough breaking into the job market, but she seems to show all the signs that she'll make a success of her career

Best of luck, she'll get there :-)

Phone roams onto an SA network.
Incoming call costs me a pound a minute. Eff that shyte. Log into my portal and turn off roaming.

Phone drops signal, then quietly logs onto home network via VoWiFi, no more roaming charges, no mess no fuss.

A few days late but started a new job this last Monday after being unemployed for the last 4 and a bit months due to retrenchment. My wife is upset that her 'house husband' isn't around anymore but hopefully thankful that I am once again earning an income. Thanks to anyone and everyone for the help, a few on here helped me tremendously with contacts, words of support, etc.

Also a bit late. We were affected by the Brakfontein fire at the substation. 12 days with no electricity. I have the most amazing friends. I had countless offers of hot showers, hot water for coffee, the use of space and their internet. A friend even lent me his portable inverter - and when that one died, another one with many batteries. People are really kind and amazing. They turned what could have been a horrible experience into one where we felt so grateful for the people we know. A member on this forum also offered me the use of his portable generator. I was totally blown away by everyone's kindness.
