The Eachine E58 drone I ordered from Wish arrived today. Paid R25.50 handling fee which brings it to a total of R674 all inclusive. Quite impressed for the price - it's no Mavic, but it came with two batteries and the flight time seems decent enough.

I love cheap stuff :D
That looks pretty cool for the price, thx.

Not the movie thread.

It's actually for my dad, but I had to test it...for quality control purposes, of course ;)

The package arrived a bit damaged but the contents were all intact. The drone itself, two batteries (bonus!), four spare propeller blades, four prop guards, the transmitter and an Engrish manual. Oh, and a Micro USB cable to charge the batteries.

The batteries charge in around 70 minutes from totally flat and offer around 10 minutes of flight time. The transmitter can't hold my 5.5" phone, as it's too wide to fit inside the holster. I may jerry rig it to fit the phone on the (fake) transmitter antennas. The Android app is also in Engrish but most buttons aren't labelled and took some trial and error to figure out.

The flight seems good, if a bit unstable in light winds. The drone is very light, and took some fiddling with the trim buttons to get it to hold steady. I haven't fiddled with the altitude hold, headless mode or video capture yet. I'll report back with more info next month :D

When a service provider writes you again and puts himself a corner.

He admits implicitly that either he didn’t do his job, either he misrepresented milestones and his payment wasn’t justified. Pretty stupid.

Home.

OK, so it is several degrees cooler than Malalane. But it is nice to be home. One day, just maybe, I'll make the Lowveld my home. Love the heat and its proximity to the KNP.

I logged it, don't worry about grandma, she had a good life and we had a nice 90th party for her in February. We all sort of knew it would be the last so no one is upset or sad, it's just a natural thing.

90 is a milestone age. Must have been a good run.

She would have been a (young) teen during WW2. Prob had some stories.
