But seriously, this is personally something I've seen happen multiple times. A business goes to a 'hosting agent' to get their domain registered and their website up and running. The 'hosting agent' registers the domain, but under their details, without giving the domain registration service any mention of the email address of the actual client. Fast-forward 2 or 3 years, and the company wants to change hosts or something, and none of the response emails are set to go to any active addresses, because either the 'hosting agent' has closed down, or their original employees have left.
In the end, it the fault of both the company and the 'hosting agent'. Ignorance is no excuse, and domain registration (at least .co.za) is not difficult at all.
