the days where the iPhone was streets ahead on screen quality seems to be going...

one of the reasons I went with the iPhone 4 is because of the 330 ppi pixel density. i wanted a crystal clear screen, no jagged edges. pure "retina display" so I could enjoy the phone as much as possible.

then I also figured out I couldnt watch a lot of the live tv streams because of the no flash support... :erm:

now there are phones like this and this

think its time to say goodbye to iPhone

Adobe has adopted an interesting new strategy by pinning its resources and efforts on HTML5 and in the process of doing so, the company will no longer develop Flash player for mobile phones. According to Adobe’s Official Blog, their reasons for this move are that most mobile phones now support HTML5. Due to this, HTML5 is the best mode for content creation across mobile platforms.

Adobe to kill Flash!


Their upcoming Flash Player 11.1 will be the last version for mobile devices. They’ve also started working on Flash Player 12 for PC browsers and the company is planning to make the switch easier for developers by using the latest Flash version as a bridge to smoothen transition to HTML5.

Here are a few interesting excerpts from their blog post.

'Over the past two years, we’ve delivered Flash Player for mobile browsers and brought the full expressiveness of the web to many mobile devices.

However, HTML5 is now universally supported on major mobile devices, in some cases exclusively. This makes HTML5 the best solution for creating and deploying content in the browser across mobile platforms. We are excited about this, and will continue our work with key players in the HTML community, including Google, Apple, Microsoft and RIM, to drive HTML5 innovation they can use to advance their mobile browsers.

Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer continue to develop Flash Player in the browser to work with new mobile device configurations (chipset, browser, OS version, etc.) following the upcoming release of Flash Player 11.1 for Android and BlackBerry PlayBook.'

Get a decent Android and you're unlikely to miss your iPhone for more than the time the 'droid takes to boot up.

Yes... because the OP specifically mentions that as one of his considerations... Fact remains that Flash is at least viewable on native Android, and it'll be around for a long time yet.
 
ok wait... so that means that websites will no longer stream there stuff using flash but rather using HTML 5

so Apple were right all along?

Flash is outdated and very little supported sorry for the flash boys but whatever you can make in flash I can do html 5, jquery in half the time it took you and it looks much better :D no one has to download anything for it to work in your browser just awesome

Yes they were right about flash its kak
But they still missing the point

Ipad and iphone cant even see a file upload button come on seriously

iPhone 5 is going to have to be a significant upgrade to maintain credibility. These new droids are potent!!

I been waiting over 8 weeks for a 4s and there's talk of an April launch of the SGSIII. How long before Vodacom have it though?? How long did it take the SGSII to launch locally after its initial launch...

I'm very much tempted...

Was 2 months.

I remember it well seeing that I got a dam DHD a month before the SGS2 landed :(

My wife has the iPhone and truthfully, both screens are similar and excellent. Both phones have crisp displays. Even watching HD movies on both the difference in PPI is negligable
