Thinking of going back to Win 7

My experience too. Took time to get used to but really cool now - especially with an SSD.
 
Took me time to get used to Win8, but I pushed through and did not install any of the fake Win7 tools.
Now I am used to it, I honestly prefer it over Win7. Running it on all 7 of my machines now.

You've put a tablet OS on all your pcs and you prefer it. So I take it all the displays are big touch screen displays?

I went through the whole try it, back to 7,back to 8, use Start8 (or whatever it is called), back to 7... Etc...
I then decided to give it time and learn to use it as MS intended. Now I love it and don't like Win7. The start menu is so yesterday.
Win+Q/W gets you to your apps very quickly and pinning frequently used apps to the task bar for the regulars. Sorted.

No, I hardly ever use the metro screen. No need for it.
For me it does not feel like a tablet OS at all. More like a lean and mean Win7.
 
Was still on Windows XP until about 6 months ago because of legacy apps. Was a bitch finding drivers for new equipment though, so gave up on it and moved to windows 7. I still have to run XP in VM because of those same legacy apps, and it runs fast as i have a minimal of apps required installed in the VM.

Will stick with Windows 7 (64bit) until furthur notice, and just wish alll the manufacturers didnt already switched to Windows 8 until it is fully tried and tested

Yes, it is lean and mean Windows 7, as Windows 8 uses the Windows 7 Basic theme. :)

Mike, you can go on polishing this turd Microsoft dropped on us, but my best advice is to become productive again and get Windows 7 back on those pcs.

I spend 14 to 16 hours a day in front of a machine. If I felt I was not productive I would have gone back (as I did do a few times as mentioned).

Your choice not to use it. My choice to use it. Everyone happy.

What is his complaint? That it didn't require twice the memory which is hurting sales of Samsung memory? That the OS isn't flashy enough to get people to buy new Samsung hardware, so Samsung has to rely on their hardware's merits attracting new buyers? Besides the fact that he appears confused about which was the previous version of Windows.

Let's face it Vista introduced a lot of enhancements to Windows, but they were poorly implemented, and Windows 7 was mostly a fix for Vista. If Vista had gone well everyone would have complained about Windows 7 being barely an upgrade.

Mine's basically Windows 7 Ultimate.
 
Am using windows 8 for more than 8 months now. No complaints or whatsoever. I m just plain happy. Perhaps before you go back to windows 7, you need to understand windows 8 has been a success and likely to stick around longer. So when you finally find peace with it and decide to come back. It will still be around operating in the same manner. I think better keep it. That's just one of the little annoyances

I also keep reading that PC sales generally are declining, so not particularly surprising.
 
In October last year I bought a new laptop, which was pre-installed with Win 7 Home Basic 64 bit.
I then took advantage of the MS $14-odd upgrade offer for Win 8, created the ISO image, and installed Win 8 Pro.

I was not that happy with Win 8 (I do not have a touch screen), but after a while learned its idiosyncracies, (and downloaded an aftermarket "Start" function :o) and was getting to grips with it, when I started getting BSOD errors.

Eventually a reboot would not resolve these errors, so I re-installed Win 7 Home Basic from the recovery discs that I had made on acquisition of the laptop.

I now want to give Win 8 another shot, and I have the original Win 8 ISO on a disc.
But, will MS have updated the Win 8 OS yet?
Also I am concerned that my original ISO image I made for Win 8 may be corrupted, and may have corrupt files that led to the BSOD errors

So, is there a local site where I can re-download an (hopefully updated) ISO image of Win 8 Pro ? I do still have my purchased Win 8 promo code and product key, and am assuming I can re-use those for a clean, new install of Win 8 Pro?

I'm not that clued-up re: doing a clean OS install, so would appreciate answers to above questions, and any pointers on how I should go about a re-install. Thanks in advance!
