This a good rig?

Why is this the second time now we have a thread with hugely inflated prices from Takealot and the poster saying: "But they will only allow buying from Takealot"

I recall a similar thread not too long ago with a guy who's brother is paying and will only pay if it's takealot.

That is utterly retarded... Why would anyone pay through their neck for something they can get from a legitimate source for WAAAAAY Less?
Wootware is by far the best PC online store in SA (personal opinion) and I know I'm not the only one on here who thinks so. By far, 1000x better than Takealot :o :D

Also, dude if it was up to me, I would bargain hunt the **** out of my PC. I basically paid R5500 for an i7 system with 8gb ram and a R9 270X but again this isn't for me, it's for someone else.

Anyway guys, the plan didn't work out as I'd hoped but thanks for the advice regardless.

If you read the thread properly, you would have seen that I was in fact going to go for wootware. I literally just found out last night about this issue on my friend's side.

Hey please don't miss understand my post. Not aimed at you or anyone particularly.

I just find it utterly retarded that people will willingly give Takealot business with those insane prices and claim it to be the safest. It leaves me dumbstruck. So please don't take offence, was not aimed at you. But I see more and more people falling for this bullshyte and I just want to slap them against the farking head!

Well, then you give them the money and let them buy where they want... or you can convince the payee to change their terms...

Exactly, you going to pay for it either way, what they do with the money is not your concern. If they wanted it for a PC and they buy a PC it's all good right?

I just don't understand people sometimes...

@OP haven't read the whole thread, don't know if where you stay came up but if you live somewhere close to Randburg you can go here http://www.pcint.co.za/en/home. They will most likely give you a 5-15% discount for paying in cash.

You should be able to pull off a 1060/i5 7400 or 7500 for around R10 000 - R12 000 before discount and you don't have to pay shipping because you collect.

This is true, heard they have a shop in Pretoria as well.

Aah okay I was a bit hasty there. Yeah I've never bought a PC component from takealot. I honestly tend to go a mix of second hand and brand new. I also hate when people ask for advice but then go against it. Side story, my family used to own a videoshop back then when those were still a thing. What I hated the most was a customer would come and ask me to recommend a movie. After recommending a movie, the customer would choose something else and I'd even tell them it's not a good movie but nope they take it regardless. Next day the naiers come back and complain that the movie was k@k. sigh.

:D that's life I suppose

Order the components and build it for him and charge him a fee, will still be a schiteload cheaper than takeaLOT :D

He decided to buy from wootware but in the stilletjies so as to not alert the gran.

And your point ? Got my build and a happy camper. It isn't so much that advise was asked about which CPU it was more how is the AMD quads at the time compared to the intel quads.Secondly I wasn't going to let 16gigs of ram go to waste, or sell and then get 4 gig DDR4 at the time, it wouldn't have been enough for photoshop and modeling apps even 8gig DDR4 wouldn't have been enough.

On a good development day, Softimage takes 500mb of memory just opening the app, photoshop clocked in at 4 gig and the photoshop plugin quixel clocked in at 2gig, one or both apps are always open, some time with marmoset toolbag, for quick texture rendering and realtime updates to textures, which takes another healthy helping of ram.Considering having to get a kaby lake or skylake rig, would have exceeded the budget with a couple of 100.I still haven't recovered from having not being able to do no work in that period, getting money at the end of the month trumps being a takealot tard any day of the week, besides the CPU was the cheapest CPU around as well as the board, could have saved a bit on the GPU, only to pay more for the CPU and board else where.
Considering the CPU was R3.3K and board R876, it was cheaper then any other skylake and kabylake chip/board at the time and then I still didn't have ram to add to the mix.If I went with the "advise" in the thread I would have been screwed ram wise, as 8gig isn't enough not nearly. So it has %&*^% to do with takealot, but every thing to do, with getting what I needed at the time some on else paying with his credit card, his risk, and nothing but his gratitude, you do not look a gift horse in the mouth.

What you fail to grasp, my brother has zero interest in the "internet of things" he isn't going to hand over he credit card details to some website he doesn't know no matter how good the prices are, and having had previously dealings with takealot, no what how good or bad, delivery, service or support is, he trusts them with his details, some people are old fashion and set in their ways, So take your opinionated post and shove it......

What are you even talking about?

AMD or Intel has nothing to do with TakeAlot or Wootware - you can buy either. And nobody was saying you need to spend money you obviously don't have, we all wanted you to get the best you could within the budget that you had. Wootware would have got you more hardware for your money because their prices are better.

And if I remember your thread correctly, TakeAlot screwed up the order, resulting in a delay, resulting in you being unable to do any work for a longer period of time. Am I right?

If you are worried about credit cards on the Internet, then don't use them. Wootware doesn't accept credit cards at all, you have to pay via EFT.

No pitbull was mentioning people were suggesting hardware. I asked in the very first post how does the intel components match up with the AMD components.Already made my mind up on the hardware I was going to get, just needed some idea as to how the AMD cpu would preform, Some one mentioned that the AMD CPU runs pretty hot.So that was a no go then, and went with the intel CPU and board, already pointed out on in the first post and needed to choose a GPU.

Then every one jumped on the bandwagon, about getting a newer kabylake or skylake CPU board and ram.Which I never asked for I simply asked, how is the AMD components I selected compared to the Intel ones.So catch a wake up, the only advise I ever asked was there a better AMD combo, and what GPU you get considering min requirement was 128bit card. Some one suggested a RX460, and that is exactly what I got in the end, a RX460.

Then some Muppet complained about it being takealot blah blah, cheaper sites blah blah blah. I said option was takealot the end.

Point one
I asked which is better from what I selected the AMD components or Intel Components as I wanted to reuse my ram.

Point two
I asked which 128bit GPU

I did get every thing finally on the date they said it would be delivered, However I just expected the CPU and board to be shipped in the mean time, which they didn't, after a simple inquiry they shipped what they had, which result I me actually being able to go on.
So I never asked which store, I never asked to suggest other intel bundles, and asked is there a better AMD bundle and which GPU.
People bitched and moaned about stuff I don't give a smidth about it deviated from the original question.

Which was the which effing AMD or effing intel bundle was better, people said the AMD was going to run hot, so I went against that then, I never went against an advice in the thread considering my effing mind was already made up on the components I selected. The only ever advise I asked was which GPU, and some one said Rx460 some one else said it was a crap card, I am pretty happy with the Rx460 runs super cool and packs a decent punch.

So yeah whatever dude, perhaps pay attention next time, I made my intentions pretty clear here is my options, that is what I have, don't come with your white monopoly tendencies and suggest and bemoan every thing, on stuff I never asked about or for.Yes I agree kaby or skylake would have been better, yes wootware may have been cheaper, it wasn't what I asked however.

Your questions were like,

"Should I cut off my arm or my leg?"

......

If someone asks which is the best choice out of two bad options, I will tell them both are bad. I won't ever just say cut your arm off.

If you don't like the advice you get when you ask for advice, then don't ask for advice.

People were trying to get you the best deal for your money, at the end of the day that did not happen. None of the suggestions involved parting with credit card or personal details, was straight EFT with very reputable dealers people trust more than takealot.

If you don't like the advice you get when you ask for advice, then don't ask for advice.

Ironically that is how it goes with every "advise" thread getting a 4590 compared to say the 6500 is hardly cutting off an arm, as there isn't much speed difference between them, other then the 6500 having much better single core performance, which wasn't really the concern as I hardly use single cores apps any ways.7600 does provide better overall performance, but still marginal at best and a few seconds off rendering a texture in softimage isn't going to adversely affect me in the long run.

4590 @ takealot was cheaper then any thing else on the net by R300.00 odd as takealot had it on special so what a gained there was spend on the gigabyte RX460 which was 300 odd more then wootware.I had 16gig ram, I wasn't going to go thru the hassle of selling that first and then still be over the budget with DDR4 ram. The pro's exceeded the cons, reuse the ram and save a bucket load in the process how ^@#&#%@%&#($&# is that exactly cutting off an arm or leg, nor did I ask about it, they only ever advise was AMD CPU or the intel CPU any thing else was outside the scope of what was asked.

It's basically like me asking, I want to get a 2015 renault megane or a 2015 ford focus both have BT connectivity and need it as a requirement, as that is what I like what are the pro's and con's between the two and suggesting going to this dealer as they are cheaper, and getting the 2017 ford focus as it's faster but it has WIFI only meaning I need to get new device to deal with the connectivity it offers.

In other words getting advise outside of the scope about some thing some one never asked about or wanted, and that is how every effing thread goes, some one likes this because it serves his purpose and likes the shape colour ect, and with complete disregard to the OP posts some thing unrelated usually costs more and not what the OP asked about how about actually sticking to what the OP likes and wants and not what you like and want and then end up belittling the OP because he went with some thing else because you "expert opinion" trumps every OP that wants some idea what some thing is like. Yes defies all logic and purpose, you do have to ask who is paying for it and has to live with what they got for the foreseeable future, you couldn't give a damn once you exit the thread.

With which the only reasonable conclusion is that most people that offer advice and opinions are like buttholes every one has one, the consistency of morning movement is equivalent to how relevant the advice and opinion is on the subject matter they offer and if they using two or one ply.

We don't to out of budget, we stick to the budget. We don't suggest things people can't afford once they provide a budget.

If you don't like getting advice, then don't ask for it. Don't go crying just because people give you advice. If you don't like the advice, don't take it. Put your big girl panties on.
