Another night with no internet. I'm so glad I just spent R1800 on 8ta's 60+60 ...

My GF got the 10GB/pm deal and last night it was nearly impossible to visit any sites even thought the signal was apparently full 3G

Me in northern suburbs. Didn't want to get another 2+1 but maybe I should test again. Must say for the past 4 months it has actually increased in speed. Would be disappointing.

I also tested with 2+1 (twice!) before I took the leap and bought the 60+60. It might be a coincidence, but the day on which my last 2+1 emptied out and I bought 60+60 is also the day on which my speed dropped dramatically. With 2+1 I was getting 3.5-5Mb/s consistently. Since I switched to 60+60, I get short periods of 1-2Mb/s and much longer periods, like last night and the night before, when I can't do anything at all. And it seems to be getting worse as time goes on!

I'm beginning to wonder whether I wasn't conned in some way --- you know, the old bait and switch. They dangle high speeds in front of you until they've got your money. Then someone in the basement of the 8ta building says "Right!", rubs his hands together, and presses a button ...

Hmmm interesting. I also had very fast speeds testing with the 2+1 and now with the 60+60 it's been very up and down. Will check tonight if it's any better.

My 8ta is usually acceptable (2+1 deal), but last night it was extremely slow. Downloads at 20kbps and uploads at about a tenth of that. Not sure if the overcast weather had anything to do with it...

That would be diabolical. Talk about underhanded! I really hope that is not true. But after we purchase the big bundle we have no recourse. I can get another 2+1 but then I must spend an additional R150. I really thought 8ta would be an acceptable alternative to adsl in the meantime. This sux 8ta!

It should be very easy to test. I can't really believe that 8ta would do something like that.... but then it's Telkom.

I'll see if I can get time to go get a different 2+1 sim and compare it with a 60+60 sim and see if there are any differences over the coming week. Eh, if there are then it would be a big disgrace.

Geez, weird. Mine was fast again last night. Got 2.8Mbps in a very weak signal area. In the previous 10 months with Vodacom I never got more than 1Mbps. And my signal is never higher than 3/7 on a Samsung SGH-U900 in our area.

Something isn't right. As of last night my speeds have dropped tremendously - I can't even stream from Soundcloud anymore. Nothing in my set-up or location has changed at all. These Speedtest results are ridiculous:

That would be brilliant! Please let us know!

Sorry akescpt but I wasn't able to make it today. Will have to try next weekend.

Another weekend of crap internet with patches of medium! Thanks 8ta!

This weekend was actually allright for me. I miss the days 6 months ago when I had a steady 3-4Meg. :(

This is DEFINETELY problems inside 8ta network !
Myself is electronic engeneer with quite long experiense in RF, antennas, networking e.t.c.
My setup: 1820 with permanently soldered 14dB antenna, TP-Link router.
Signal - 61-70%
Night time speed 8-11mbps. Constant, low ping.
Day time it is complete bull***t!
Signal is the same, but connection is timeout, packet loss ~20% (Night time 0!)
Speed jumping from 0 to 6mbps, mostly sitting at 10 - 80kbps.
This morning i tried to download Adobe Flash Player update with no luck for many times - "connection timeout"

THIS IS ALL MADE ARTIFICIALLY! - ALL DOWNLOADS FROM MICROSOFT SITE RUNNING AT FULL SPEED ANY TIME OF THE DAY!!!!
This is proof that physical connection between me and 8ta network working 100% and all this bull***t MADE BY 8ta (shaping, trottling or whatsever!).

I think Microsoft downloads are served by Akamai's content delivery network, so they are local and fast.
