Sorry to start another thread, but I have chosen a system and would really appreciate final yays or nays please!

MEMORY ---> Kingston Hyper-X Blu KHX1600C9D3B1K2/4GX 2x2GB Kit DDR3-1600 1.7-1.9v CL9
HARDDRIVE ---> Seagate Barracuda ST31000528AS 1TB SATA2 7200rpm
CPU ---> Intel i5-760 Quad Core 2.8GHz LGA1156 8MB Cache CPU
PSU ---> Coolermaster EXTREME POWER PLUS 550W PSU
CASE ---> Coolermaster RC-370 Elite 370 - No PSU (Bottom Place Design) - Black
GPU ---> Club3D RADEON HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 256-bit PCI-E 2.1

Motherboard is a choice between ---> ASUS P7H55/USB3 lga1156 DDR3 CrossFireX
or ---> MSI P55A-G55 LGA1156 Dual-Channel DDR3 CrossFireX

I can't decide on the motherboard... The Asus is a P55 and the MSI is an H55 and both are more or less the same price with similar specs otherwise.

I have decided not to wait for the Sandy Bridge CPU's next year as I've read that they don't overclock so well, but I definitely want an Intel system.

The total price R7667.58 with the Asus board.

I'd like to order this today from Prophecy if I can.

Thanks a million ;)

Change the RAM!!! 1.7V for DDR3 RAM = useless. What shop are you getting from? Let me find you some decent RAM at a similar price, you want something that runs at 1.5V, or worst case 1.65V. I'd also try get you to still consider the CM690ii for a case, though it is around R500 more than the one you chose. Remember though - you can buy a proper case one and it can last 10 years easy. Its not that bad to spend a mere R1000 on something that will last that long. And I would stick with a P55 mobo. Everything else looks fine.

Ah Archer you are a legend! :)

Its from Prophecy hey and is R720.12...

They have this: Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 2x2GB DDR3-1600 1.65v CL9 R786.51 (inc VAT)
or this : Mushkin 1600MHz DDR3 4GB Silverline Low-Voltage 2x2GB Kit - CL 9-9-9-24 R815.88 (inc VAT)

The Mushkin runs at 1.55volts

I'm already seriously stretching my budget hey Archer, but I know that you really know your stuff...

Prophecy has the CM690 at R800 and the CM690 II Advanced Tower Chassis at R968.20... Which is a lot....

Thanks Qwikslver, I'll take a look at those hard drives. But if I want to later overclock is it not better to have 1600 memory?

Kingston KHX1333C7S3K2/4G 2x2GB Kit DDR3-1333 1.5v CL7 R950.
Mushkin 996768 Silverline 2x2GB Low-Voltage Dual Channel Kit DDR3-1333 1.5v R670
Both run at 1.5V (proper DDR3 voltage), and the kingston set have great timings so would likely perform the same as the 1600mhz set you had earlier. Not sure how reliable mushkin is but havent heard anything scary yet of them, so thats probably your best best since you are on a budget. As for OC, you just change the RAM multiplier thingy (cant remember the right name now) so that it always runs at its rated speed. Memory speed makes so little difference to gaming anyway.

Coolermaster RC-692-KKN3, cm690ii Basic, No psu (bottom placed psu design) , you dont need the features the advanced version has. Though its currently out of stock at prophecy. Trust me R1000 on a gaming case is standard. R2000 and up is expensive.

Right, with everything you have suggested (choose the Mushkin Ram) the grand total is R8146.22.

Only problem is that specific case is sold out! What about the other CM690 cases? Are they decent?

Archer, I really appreciate you helping me bud...

Just a note, the Asus is the H55 and the MSI is the P55. ;)

Argh... Thing is below (ie cheaper) the CM690ii each and every case lacks certain features that are important to me in a gaming case, namely dust filters, decent airflow, cable routing, and space (the 690 can fit any GPU and just about any CPU cooler as well). So I really do not know what to recommend I'm afraid.

Shoot...

Maybe I'll give Prophecy a call and see if they can't organize one for me.

Otherwise, my rig is decided and complete short of the case! :)

Thank you everybody for your help, it is much appreciated!

Any other advise on a great case would really help me :)

Does Prophecy give discounts for a first time buyer?
My new rig is about R11500 and I can't compromise in any of the components I want and I will only have R10K max.

You'll probably get in budget if you change your cpu to a Phenom II 965 or 1090T.

Whats with the thread hijack? :wtf:
My apologies. I din't want to start another "Help me build my PC or something like that"....

It is a 1090T
CPU
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T = R2,474.14
MOBO
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 AMD 890FX = R2,681.07
Case
CM690 II Advanced = R968.20
PSU
Zalman ZM600-ST: 600W (12v : 500w), with EPS12V Support, 80PLUS Certified = R903.22
RAM
G.SKILL F3-12800CL8D-4GBTD 2x2GB DDR3-1600 Desktop Memory - Retail
GPU
Sapphire Radeon HD5850 Vapor-X Edition 1GB PCI-E Graphics Card - Retail
Cooler
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus = 289.61
DVD Writer
Samsung or LG = R250
HDD
Seagate/WD = R450

Total = about R11700

Well first are you planning on running a dual GPU setup? If not you can save R500-1000 by getting a 890G board.
Could shave another R500-1000 off by going for the 1050T or 955.
You may also want to look at getting a HD6870, bit slower than the vapor X edition of the 5850 though but quite a bit cheaper

I just asked some info from Prophecy forums and it looks like I will use my current case since CM 690 II is smaller than mine - saved myself R1k
This changes the whole thing since I didn't want to assemble the PC myself. I haven't done it myself.

Except crossfire, what other features/capability does the 890FX have over 890GX? Surely the R1000 difference must mean something?

Change the ram to DDR3-1333mhz

Change GPU to 6870.

Also you can drop the board to gx if you won't be running multiple gpus.
