This must be the most absurd thought process I have heard since Zuma's shower debacle!

Imagine how much better our tourism & foreign investment would be if the country had a better image? I am very disturbed at the crime explosion at present. I have been car jacked, had 5 guys walk into factory with AK's etc etc. It was so bad I left the country, only to return 10 years later because I miss all the good about this blessed country.

Something needs to be done, but your comment above adds no value to the debate!

There is some truth in it - imagine you don't need any form of security anymore, no more trellidors, no tracker unit in your car - the list goes on.

What bugs me is that the police and liberals advise you to never fight back, just do what they want and accept your fate.

What K@K advice!!!

Stand up and fight!

The best defence is offence.

Arm yourselves, get some training, change your mindset from being a victim to somebody that is aware of his surroundings and willing to take the fight to the savages who want to kill, rob and rape your wife and daughters!!

Once again - well done to this hero. Next time he will be better prepared, I'm sure.

'Give them what they want' doesn't work for women. They want your dignity, and they want your pride. Also, they don't care that they have AIDS... Giving a rapist what he wants in this country is just a slower, more excruciating death sentence.

Arming oneself is difficult. I've bought my gun, but it'll be at least a year, probably longer, before I'm legally allowed to collect it. That's assuming I even get approved.

My hat goes off to this man's dedication. One tough b@stard. Would that all south africans were as strong. His complete warrior mentality... to push the men back, protecting his family, no matter what, disregarding his own life... is beautiful.

The government, really doesnt care about crime. They are making millions from it. Everytime you have to replace something that gets stolen, you have to pay tax. So they are raking it in

No, not the government, government loses millions for all the crimes committed in the country, your statement makes no sense at all

those who make money are the security companies, they prey on the fact that people live in fear - and it is not surpirising if they are the ones perpetuating the idea that the country is a virtual war zone - but all's fair in love and profit hey

BTW - the majority of security companies in the country are managed largely by whites

COIN
MC du Toit - GMD

ADT
Pieter du Toit - MD

Securicor
Michael Brake - MD

MonitorNet
Wynand Growe - MD

and lets not even get started with the insurance companies

Whether it interferes with your rosy reality or not the country is a virtual war zone, and the security companies are the only ones keeping it at least slightly under contrrol, the government sure as hell isn't doing anything.

Good Job Meneer!!!

I'm glad you were able to protect your family!

Sad, that it sounded like you didn't do too much damage to those thugs.

What I find really pathetic is if the government can't protect people they should at least admit that and give people the means to protect themselves.

Yep, we have tried, asked for a new police station, were denied access control to our neighboorhood, we tried a neighboorhood watch, the guy that headed it was gunned down, the guy that ran paracops got killed in his home for trying to curb crime.
The f***ing gov does nothing, theses criminals are never aprehended, the gov did absolutely nothing to help us, if I see soemeone in my yard, he is going to regret it, many people here in my hood feels the same.
[EDIT:] Sorry for that, moment of anger guys, I just get so worked up when I see my brothers in my hood gets attacked the whole time. It's enough to push one over the edge!

Anyways, syndyre, I feel exactly the same!

No one should have to live like this.

Indeed!

Komaan boet, leave race out of it for once, please x!

But you make a point, the gov loses billions on crime, but they sure as hell get the criminals vote!

Accident??????

ROFLMAO!!!! Yes, methinks that is exactly their strategy!
Back to the topic:

YES!!!!!
Elardus Park is my valley, it's a nice neighboorhood, but for the past six years crime has been rampant!
Unfortunately I don't konw this guy, but I'm proud to say he lives in my hood!

Explain to me how the government loses money when they don't pay for the replacement of goods or cash.

This country *is* a ****ing war zone. Our war has had more casualties than the 'war on terror'. Wake the **** up you stupid ****ing *******. Listen for the pop.

Because that really matters. You know, I'd really like a forum rule that states that a person will be banned for 24 hours the moment they reference race in an argument. Particularly for an irrelevance such as this.

Sharks the bloody lot of them. Would people really deal with them if they didn't absolutely have to?

Yes, this post is largely ad hominem. Meet me, and I'll say the same thing to your face. Can you say the same, troll?

Sad thing is the poor guy will have to pay his own hospital bills while the useless cr@p that tried to harm his family will get the best treatment possible paid by us, the taxpayer. So, shoot to kill and save everybody some money!

Gov does get tax income indirectly from crime, replacing stolen items, no 2 ways about it. Hopefully this is not the reason they do nothing about it though. They probably do nothing because there is no easy way for someone in gov to get a kickback from the deal to fix it. Perhaps I am generalising here, but when does anyhting in gov happen without someone in gov (or gov connected) getting rich on the side?

Why should I have to pay 10k fitting my house with a modest alarm and burglar bars?
Why should I have to pay 155k for a new car, because my old perfectly good 1993 toyota was stolen and not found? (btw, the car was found, 3 days later, but the frakkin Claremont police station is too incompetent to have told me my car was sitting in their yard)
