My new obsession are turbo charged engines. New hatred - naturally aspirated engines.

That quoted fuel consumption is very, very generous. I get 12l/100km driving it work and back, but my daily commute is only around 20km. On the freeway you get get it down to 8l/100km going at the speed limit. But let's be honest you gonna drive it like you stole it with the pigs on your tail.

Servicing is not too bad, its between 3K to 5K for a minor service and around 6K to 9K for a major service. If you plan on getting one of the FSport variants the brakes and tyres are going to be costly. Front and rear brakes and pads will set you back 22K at the at the stealership and 18-inch tyres are gonna set you back an extra 3K to 5K over the stanard 17-inch tyres.

I wont however buy a BMW. From experience and those with BMWS, its best to get rid of it once the warranty or even extended warranty has expired. Thats why BMW has terrible resale values. Mercedes are better built. The B Class (2016 onwards) and the GLC are extremely popular and reliable.

Volvos on the other hand is best to buy once its about 2-3 years old. Because by then its tanked 2/3rd of its value. I know many a loyal Volvo driver thats very happy doing just that.

As for Mini. Everyone I know that has a mini are mechanics. They all celebrated the day it went out of warranty, as they believe the Mini mechanics are terrible. Mini had to repair and replace a few body parts due to their mechanics leaving tools that scratches the paint etc.

VW Golf was the most expensive car I owned for maintenance and headaches. Electronics and lock issues especially.

Best value for money that may actually gain in value... Honda Jazz.

Ive only heard of good stuff with Lexus however. Good cars. Popular abroad too.

Why would you buy an older Lexus and then take it to the dealership?

This is the only way costs would be outrageous.

The “her” says it all meaning they likely don’t care too much or just don’t know anything is wrong…or worse just keep ignoring the funny noises hoping they’ll go away.

Unless you really know cars (which it sounds like you don’t) stay away from WBC, unless it’s their top tier class cars and you are financing it.

I thought so too. But I studied the pic and I am confident it was at the panel beaters.

The front door and fender have a different shade compared to the the back door, A-pillar and even the wing mirror.

If it was bad lighting then the Mirror would atleast match the front door but it doesn’t. Totally different colours .

Edit: Right hand side. Left looks fine.
The car itself looks like it has pearl white paint and the panel beaters tried to mimic or match the rest of the paint during repairs but they definitely made the right door and fender and bit too yellow. It’s not an easy job repainting a pearlescent car.

Cars have become boring. It's just Polo's, Fortuners, double cabs and a million other cars that all look the same.

People only car about gimmicks inside the car these days, they don’t care about anything else or what’s under the bonnet. This is why you see many underpowered cars driving around with outdated engines.
