I have also noticed that 100% is indicated at about 4.6G. For those posters that are flaming that we should all be happy because Telkom is being so generous - the problem is with Telkom's continuous inconsistency. The rules get changed on various ad hoc bases without warning and without rhyme or reason.
In the case being discussed ADSL usage MUST have been down in December as many SME's use 3GB accounts and many would have been closed or less active from mid December. As Telkom does not publish the figures or formula as to how it calculates its cap, it isn't possible to obtain an independent audit.
It's quite ridiculous for a company to run a service based on best luck as to what its clients are going to get for their money. Buying a service should not be a matter of being grateful, it should be based upon an SLA.
Additionally the so called free local is equally ridiculous. If you are going to provide a separate local bandwidth, then it must be based on sites visited and traffic charged for appropriately. The current offering is a non service as it is useless.
The only conclusion one can come to is that as SAIX is Telkom, Telkom is taking unreasonable advantage of their current monopolistic position to create an unfair business advantage over its competitors, most of whom are probably its clients.
And for the flamers - yes I use TI simply because I can get more bandwidth. It's simple economics. But, once there is an alternative I will move.
