this sms thing is new, could it be that telkom is actually improving? slightly...

I know that feeling all too well.

It's not new - I have loads of these SMSes on my SIM card going back to December 2006, I suppose I should delete some of them if I ever get partial rental fee refunds...

Personal experience just last week. Phoned, got reference, got sms - and got nothing else at all - except after I lodged complaint with ICASA. Teklom just cannot communicate to their customers!

Telkom's service strategy this summer: Our technicians are down in durban sipping margaritas on the beach but if anyone asks "we're experiencing problems due to cable theft and weather damage." :D

The agent was friendly and knowledgeable

In the many, many phone calls I made to them in the last six months, a precious few of them were really helpful and friendly. I hope that, one day when the monopoly comes crashing to the ground, these few will find happy jobs elsewhere.

The rest can rot in hellkom.

I've nearly always found Telkodemonopolies' call centre agents to be friendly & polite, but usually not helpful when reporting a line or other fault - the script they use tends to assume that the customer must be a cretin, other than that the pillar to post transferring of one's call applies...

I share the crash & burn sentiment, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

No point if they don't actually do anything!
