Do they actually make a difference?

You get to the door with your hands full of packets. This random oke looks at you as if boredom is gonna kill him soon, the only thing that keeps him alive is

"slip!".

So you awkwardly position all 10 packets on one arm, realised you can't even bench 1KG, same time feeling around for where the hell you put that slip, wallet dropping on floor, cellphone going the opposite direction. Found it!

He takes a peek into one of the packets as if his future is in there, draws a line over one of the random items as if he just completed a task on Trello, wipes his nose, hands you the anointed slip and returns to the position of "life is gonna end soon".

What is the purpose of these Till Slip Check Technicians, except for causing congestion at the exit?

most theft happen where the stuff enters the shop, at the back.
This one guy, check my stuff and said , "but you pay for two and here is only one",

That's why I avoid the place as much as possible.

That and they ended their relationship with eBucks.
I had no idea they ended the eBucks, that was the only reason I got an eBucks card.
Oh well

Like SmuGS said. They build this magnificent new store here and it takes longer to get checked by these useless buggers than to get to a cashier.

There's no way they'd get away with this at a Walmart.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting they're part of Massmart

It has never bothered me in the slightest, but they hardly check thoroughly. I doubt that it is stopping crime, more a deterrent than anything else.

It is not about checking thoroughly or every item at most stores after I asked one of them (food lovers market) . He said they just need to pick two random items in the packets and then see if those items are on the slip.
