Erm, I'm a newbie here: RPM?

I agree with Antowan. There are enough rants here to put daffy duck to shame. Clearly everyone of the users on this forum are less than satisfied with Sentech. We cant start losing the plot now. This thread was a significant showing of *our* committment to fight this crap all the way. Lets wait for RPM to give us some direction and then take it further. I dont really feel comfortable handing good money over to some forumite who could well be a crack addict for all I know. (No offence intended...)

"4. Action - Lay charges with SAPS (as someone mentioned, dunno how far that will get but it's worth a try), lay a complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority in order to get Sentech to withdraw all advertising as misleading, and get consumer bodies involved (this is a consumer rights issue, after all)."

Did you know that in the UK if ONE PERSON complains to the advertising authority there, there needs to be an investigation into the complaint as to whether there is any misleading claim of any sort by the advertiser. If any proof is found, the ad does not run. One complaint. Does that happen here? Do we need a thousand marching on the offices of the guilty ourselves or this there ICASA to act on my one request? I think not. No wonder changes happen slowly if no-one is representing us.

The ASA publish its rules on the website. If an advertiser has broken the rules and it is reported by one person they will act. There is a guy that scrutinises all cellphone ads, Mclain I think is his name. Most of the time he is correct and the ad is pulled. Both my wife and daughter have lodged successful complaints, one on safety grounds, a kid standing on a glass jar, and VAT not being shown in travel ads.
Look at the ASA rules, quote the transgression, provide proof like ad time and place etc.

Watch them and go for it.
