Well, if you need to know another member on this forum, to join the Action group, then that lets me and a whole lot of other people out. So enjoy yourselves and your paranoid closed user groups.

Buffalobill, you did the right thing, something I suggested a few weeks ago, but got ignored. Maybe should have done what you did myself, and we would have had the engineers from IPW here already.

But seriously, so what if there are spies, you actually want them to know what you are going to do, unless it it is totaly subversive, then again "be my guest and do it without me"

There are an infinite number of ways to skin a cat.

For those happy to take greater risks to expose what sentch is doing a closed group, for that particular task, makes sense.

However, 99% of the protest actions can publically coordinated. Setting up an open-to-all-MW-users type group on yahoo groups to get some measure of "secrecy" isn't very usefull as it will be penetrated easily. Best to coordinate those type of protest actions from this board IMHO.

The important thing is to get involved and start making a contribution rather than the specifics of the coordination.

But there's still more! As happenstance would have it, a Markinor researcher stopped by my house today. It turns out she's doing market research for Telkom wanting to know about our Internet usage, access methods and so on. Interesting that in their research when they asked how I accessed the Internet, it did not include wireless, just dial-up, ISDN or ADSL. Even more interesting is that Telkom seems to be feeling the market for R340 ADSL, either on 24 month contract with free modem, or 12 month with a charge for the modem. If this is so, then they're thinking of halving the current cost although there was no mention of an additional ISP fee (the questionnnaire just said plus rental costs). I know the basic ADSL prices so I can't say about the rest, but I would guess, similar cost reductions on other Internet charges could be in the pipeline or planning stages.

Sentech, put that in your pipe and smoke it. Be afraid, be very, very afraid.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I have an inferiority complex. But it's only a little one.

Heh, I just figure there's a lot of different ways to approach the Sentech lack-of-service problem, and for some of the stuff, it SHOULD be plotted in paranoid secrecy - just from the point of view of avoiding telling Sentech where the punch is coming from, as well as any legal issues.

Coz the last thing in the world I (and I figure everyone else) would want, is for something discussed/plotted openly here, to be grabbed and used by Sentech against the owner and creator of this Forum.

From my meeting the other day with Sentech, it was clear that not only are they reading everything here - but they are very very keen to find out the actual real names of the various forumites. So they're operating like Big Brother, therefore some stuff has to go *pause for dramatic effect* .... underground!!!! :)

But Robone, you have a point -
and yaw the IPW route is a stunning idea..

Re adsl - buffalobill - I hope you pointed out that Telkom just has to lose that silly 'cap' idea, and drop their TOTAL cost down into the R600 - R700 range and suddenly the battle between the big guys takes over, and we can all play crows waiting in the trees to get the eyeballs from the dead soldiers, after the fighting's over..

If Telkom took away the cap and rather offered reasonable contended 64k/128k/256k/512k/1Mbps packages for a decent price like R350/R600/R800/R1100/R1500 they would totally cream the competition and it would result in a broadband explosion which could turn a good profit for them. 1000s will start signing up. They can definitely do this since they get the bandwidth at cost price and have all the infrastructure. Of course with their mentality it will never happen.

I agree with CMM - it will ever happen. Im not at all interested in paying R350 plus plus plus for 1.5GB download shaped. no freakin way. I will only pay what I am paying now or less (with MyWi I pay R41 TOTAL for that 1.5GB download supposedly unshaped)

I'm not concerned at all. I've worked in a very public position in a way, way bigger organisation than Sentech with people wanting to hit me over the head with baseball bats because we closed down their illegal operations. And I didn't hide behind switchboards like Sentech does. <Hello Marcel, I'm still waiting for for a reply to my e-mail of 23 March> I've already said I'm prepared to repesent an action group in public.

My position is simple - I'm not getting even 1/10th of what I expected out of a service that I'm paying for. I want it fixed (and PDQ) and I want Sentech to explain when and how it's going to fix it. I also want an exclusion (option to cancel) from the contract and credits for the months Sentech has been unable to deliver. Above all, I want Sentech to take responsibility and ownership of the problem.

Are you reading this, Sentech?

BTW, if we went the legal route, no judge in the land would accept 4kb vs the suggested 128kb as being contractually acceptable.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

buffalobill - what you state is what most of us have stated over and over again over the last few months. Sentech clearly couldnt give a damn about any of us, and has simply chosen to block and diffuse the complaints using its call centre and endless statements of 'we're looking into it'. So many of us are all worn out demanding what you're rightfully demanding. It simply doesnt do any good, and nothing changes.

All that's left are a few last tactics - such as
a) requesting credit for the months of degraded service.
b) instituting legal action for false advertising and fraudulent misrepresentation of services.. c) approaching consumer bodies to force sentech into behaving like an honest Company.

So under the 'Warfare You Can Use Phone/Fax Numbers' thread - I've cut n pasted a range of organization's phone/fax numbers - from the Advertising Standards Authority, through to Consumer Protection and Bad Business Practises Committee - in hopes that enough forumites will pick one or another route of proxy-legal action, and use one or another of the various bodies, to lever Sentech into doing what it should.

Otherwise the only thing left, is to retain counsel, and institute a class action suit/criminal case against Sentech, using as many willing forumites as possible to add weight to the case. And Sentech appears guilty of a range of transgressions, from fraudulent misrepresentation of its services onwards.

In my recent meeting with sentech, I actually raised this possibility, and was told that 'If we (Sentech) were to go to court, we'd win' - I responded with "Yes but the instant there was a court case between your customers and you, you've effectively lost - by flushing your entire advertising campaigns, PR and adspend down the toilet. No one will ever sign up with you again. So you might 'win' - but you cant really afford to go to court, can you?'
(They had no real answer to this, they just looked very uncomfortable.)

So believe me, I've confronted reasonably highly-placed Sentech personnel, and as yet, have had the same evasions, half truths and lies given to me.

So these times now are the last stages prior to lawsuits, at least from my side.

All the whining, shouting, phoning the callcentre over and over and then detailing on forum what the deliberately vague Orc had to say, are almost at an end. Over two months of lies, deliberate evasion by Sentech, endless promises, lousy service and no accountability.

My proposal is for an organised group, not for individuals acting by themselves or having their own meetings with Sentech. Whining and shouting doesn't work either. Calm and rational can, but only if it's organised. I'm getting pretty tired of this now. Take it or not.

Man - I'm going to detour past there to have a look... wonder how long before Sentech sends an orc to clean that up ;-)

I'm in too. The coordinated, heave weight attack seems the best. Thats just me... the meat running in with rock launcher waving high! My service is alright. Given that i never had "broadband" before and was used to 4KB max (then i'm dancing).

I'm also sick of sentechs attitude towards all mywireless users! So I'm in. Someone, please send me details on groups/actions/etc cause i know no one of mywireless in real life.

Lets do this thing and do it right!

Buffolobill, you started this subject. Time for co-ordinated action. You wanted to take the lead, so take the lead. Let us have your email address so we can start this damn list of pissed off users, and give me a bank account where I can deposit some bucks. I have never heard such bullsh@t in all my life. That Marcel deserves to have someone make him eat his words.

I have followed on from your contact with IPwireless and sent email to the PR officer.

But we do need co-ordinated action, because each one off us blasting off at what ever we see, will not work, we need some money, and we need an attorney and we need to make them say they are sorry they screwed us.

Well, I agree with you Robone. Except none of the senior members have committed any support. I cannot do this by myself, because *we* need commitment from a majority of members. It seems most people prefer the anarchic route - ie DIY. And if that's the case, so be it. Yes, there's been some publicity. But don't think that a one-off in Cape Talk on a weekend should be it. There should be more. I'm glad to see that somebody else took up the cudgels with the ASA, so let's see what transpires.

Yeah, I started the subject but it's gone nowhere. Meanwhile, the service has degraded further. Previously I likened it to walking through treacle, well in the last few days, it's been like trying to suck a banana sundae through a straw - with marshmallows.

Effit, this service is not disfunctional, it's completely broken and will someone tell us what the f*** is going on?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hi guys,

I have contacted RPM with regard to this topic. The stirrings are indicative of the situation with regard to Sentech and its wireless service offerings. I think there is a need for guidence in this regard and believe me RPM is the guy to do it. Do not lose your spirit as this spirit is exactly what will get you better service.

I will get back to you tomorrow with ideas. If any of you have more in the meantime, please share.

Regards
Antowan
