Someone started a thread about a time lapse video in "Natural Sciences". I thought I'd start a time lapse photography thread here...

I'll start with a few, but please post more good ones.

Tom Lowe's work is fantastic. Unfortunately the vimeo link (full HD) is password protected, and the youtube one "blocked in your country" courtesy of the a-holes at EMI. But of you google "timescapes learning to fly" you'll find ways to see it.

That used to be available on Vimeo. I have it somewhere :) Copyright issues with Pink Floyd?

His feature is basically cut and being mastered. Can't wait to see it.

Great choice of music (Inception - Hans Zimmer) in this one. Enjoy :D

Not quite time lapse, but a great stop animation:

Cool posts guys. MaximusZA, I've seen those videos before... I like what he does, but I think he pushes the colour saturation too far in some shots and his ND Grads makes big black blobs of some mountains and rocks. Some of the shots are amazing.

Speaking of Time lapse, I would love to do some myself. Could anyone recommend a decent remote to do time lapse stuff, i am using a Nikon D90 and so the feature is not built in.

thanks,
Guys

I've been experimenting with a laptop and Nikon control, on the same camera.

I think the Hahnel Giga T Pro would probably be the most versatile and cost effective remote. Roundabout R1k...

I've always loved time-lapse and stop animation. I did one a while ago, where I sat outside for about 5 hours and took a photo myself every couple of minutes. But I've been looking for a tool to do it for a while. I stumbled upon this a while ago, but never got round to building it until yesterday, when I managed to get the necessary tools. It's really cheap, and if you have the tools easy to make and works fairly well. Big plus for me is that it uses the camera's power and doesn't require batteries. It obviously doesn't have many features, but works quite nicely.

Around The World in 5 Minutes

Kien Lam backpacked the world in a year. To prepare for the journey, the photographer brought alongside a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF-1, several wide-angle lenses and a flimsy tripod. He accumulated more than 10,000 timelapse shots during the 343 days he traveled to 17 countries on five continents. The end product is this amazing five-minute video.
