Guild Wars is free-to-play. The fact that you have to buy the box keeps the gold sellers and other rubbishes out. It has over 5 million players, PvP that trumps any game out there (imo), GvG as a core mechanic of PvP, no hunting to gain levels (because that's just stupid) and everything else you mentioned.

Lastly, because you pay for it once-off, you're guaranteed better support.

Sounds like they are promoting.

Why do you have to register just to see a screen? i mean come on... Are you perhaps scared it might suck? having people seeing it and think oh no not for me, is better than having people register and finding out its not for them or not what they thought..
