Would it be possible in the near future to go back in time? And what about parallel universe's do they really exist?

logically, if you did build a time machine the furthest you could go back is to when you first activated it. String thoery, read it. :p

*waits for zana*

you would also need to bend light to time travel.

Awesome cause I can bend light.

//Time suits up!

lol thanx for that guys so I take it that it will never be possible. What about parallel universe's?

The reason why you can not go back into the past is because of trouser legs. Each are different, even if they are joined at the crotch and made of the same stuff.

Hawkins "Quote" Time travel could be possible with the existance and the travel through a black hole" U can imagine how many times that has happend lol

The idea that spaceships might zip across the universe using black holes as a high-speed portal is a well-worn sci-fi cliché.

But the consensus among scientists of late is that black holes are so destructive, spaceships would be torn to subatomic bits if they tried such a thing.

Then again, maybe not. A new paper by University of Utah physicist Lior Burko, building on earlier work, raises the possibility that black holes may not annihilate everything, and that the potential for hyperspace travel is still open.

"One possibility is that black holes may allow us to travel to very remote places in the universe, or another universe entirely," said Burko in a telephone interview from his office in Salt Lake City. "It depends on the topology of the universe, which we do not know very well.... I'm not arguing it's a practical thing to do, but maybe in 1,000 years from now, maybe it would be simpler."

In Burko's scheme, black holes may be doorways to wormholes, theoretical constructs equivalent to tunnels, or shortcuts, between distant points of the universe, different points in time or even parallel universes.

I won't say never. The question you asked us is akin to you asking a caveman if its possible to build video cameras. :D

If you're interested in parallel universe's read up on string and m theory. If I recall correctly that's one of the main objectives of that big ass(yet currently out of action) collider they built in Europe.
Apparently the math makes sense but there's no direct experimental evidence for parallel universe's yet.

If you were able to travel faster than the speed of light and go straight into a blackhole, you will come out in a parallel universe. Very interesting stuff indeed.

no....:erm: a black hole is simply a small piece of matter with the weight of several planets - you would simply be sucked in and die.

parallel universes do not exists, and neither do multi-verses or whatever.
