Apologies if the subject makes you cringe.
Rest assured I want to make it easy for people

We are growing and I need to hire the right sort of skills

Rough Requirement
1. TIme tracking mainly into Project / task types
2. No billing or financial elements required
3. Only about 10 users
4. Timesheets wont be very granular. 2 or 3 task types per person per day
5. Should be able to be done roughly by staff member on less than 5 mins a day
6. Must be browser based in cloud

Any smart ideas?

Toggl ? Granted u only get 5 users for free..

1. You can define sub-task templates which u can apply
2. API / JSON which u can wire-up with Jira, Bitbucket etc
3. iOS. Android, Web, MacOS, etc
4. Supports time as u go.. Also does timeline recording on desktop (record activity locally which users can later use to fill out timeline.. private to them)

Other things
5. Billing reports, customer reports etc
6. Alerts

I dunno.. it's the best time tracking we've found.

PS. YouTrack gives 10 users for free if u host

Best idea is to get something thats integrated with your project management system and invoicing system.

I looked into this a while back.

Asana - Project and task management
Togl - Time logging
Xero - invoicing per project

They all integrate nicely so no need to constantly switch between tabs and software. They also cost, but you get what you pay for.

Chase is also a possible option, the UI is just horribly made.
