Recently while surfing, random webpages will not display and instead I get the message:

Cache Error!
The following error has occured: tinyproxy was unable to connect to the remote web server.
Generated by tinyproxy (1.6.2)

I haven't got anything installed on my stand alone PC. There are no proxy settings in IE, Opera or any other browser installed on my PC. Also, my router is clean from any proxy settings.

I see another user on this forum has seen this same message (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=92610).
My ISP is clueless (Axxess).

Can anyone shed some light on what the heck this is and why it occurs?

Thanks

What says your antivirus, ad-aware and spybot?

Try cache.saix.net:8080 as your proxy in IE and Mozilla and see if that helps.

Might be that you got hit by some malware thing.

My problem seems sorted...

First i got my router exchanged, that didnt solve it. Then I phoned axxess (spoke to Wayne Andrews). He looged a fault with SAIX and then it was solved.

Thanks ultra-v16. I've gone back to Axxess and told them to look into it further.

Sort of.
Axxess submitted a log to SAIX. They responded by saying they needed examples of the domains that I experience the problem on.
Since then it's only happened a handful of times, so I presume SAIX did something to sort out the issue and tried to pass the buck back by asking for domain examples.

weird thing is that when i had the problem, it did it with every pc in our company, with different browsers. After the fault was logged to SAIX, the problem went away with all machines

What is this about? It happened when I was on FB and LinkedIn.. and perhaps on Gmail also.

Might have to submit it to support. (Big brother watching?? LOL)

I think it is a SAIX problem... I have it with my WA saix account but not with my IS account... therefore it cannot be my pc.

I used the saix proxy address and it is no longer there, as long as I leave the proxy set up
