Tips to Boost your eBucks

Hmm. Just got an email from my private banker that contradicts what I've posted above.
So now I'm a bit confused...

looks like its MUCH easier to get to l5 on gold account and it seems they also get 40% off and 15% back on fuel and shoprite. Their swipes get 1.5% instead of 2%. Seems its better to be gold. Fnb punishing us platinum holders.

Yep,

I think it is better to go back to gold.

Are there limits on spending that gets eBucks? I have not seen any, but there are T&C terms that are not stated.

Any one know of limits?

Disappointed that they're pushing you towards using a credit card more. Really disappointed. I've only ever kept one for emergencies, and now I have to actually use it and deal with the admin of transferring money back into it.

Welll it looks like a Global Account in Euros is the most finanancially effective way to jump to level 5, 3000 points at about R11000 invested. Major reorganisation of finances required, but net effect will be R800 per month in vouchers.

You need to invest 1000 Euro, which is about R14200 at the moment, not R11000

Please keep me honest here mense - one can pay with a credit card for fuel and it is not considered a 'cash' transaction that FNB would effectively charge you interest on?

For the global accounts, also consider the interest you earn...

Currency Interest Rates (per annum)* Balance
US Dollar 0.40% No minimum balance required
Euro 0.15% No minimum balance required
GBP 0.50% No minimum balance required
Australian Dollar 2.75% No minimum balance required
Indian Rupee 6.00% No minimum balance required
Chinese Renminbi 0.00% No minimum balance required

Use between 10% and 90% of your credit limit during a calendar month.
(These percentages are based both on budget and straight facilities on your FNB Platinum Credit Card)

Does anybody have a practical example of how this is calculated - bold bit especially?

Set up an auto payment to pay the full amount each month

Is there an automatic way to transfer eBucks from one person to another? Last year it had to be done by calling the eBucks helpline IIRC.

edit: Thanks ABU. Found this now.

Seems like on platinum without a credit card on platinum you are greatly punished. I don't have a home loan so I basically can get max 9000 points. Don't u pay extra fees for a credit card?

Anyone know the process to downgrade to gold? Would I stay on my fee saver?

Zero inventive for the savings pocket and bank your change, zero incentive for roadside assistance. Personally think they have greatly swayed the odds, I'll be lucky to make level 1... Was on route to level 3!

Not very impressed with the sweeping changes being made. Been on level 5 for as long as I can remember and with FNB for more than 10 years. I will struggle to get to level 4 on my platinum account and pointless with my private clients credit card. I should however get to level 5 if I downgrade to gold for both my credit card and cheque card

Do you get the same rewards per tier regardless of what account you have?

Comparing Gold and Platinum, it would appear that Gold is a better option if your credit card useage is not high.

My wife is on Gold and currently level 1. She will automatically go to level 3 and with a bit of revision of actions could get to 5 quite easilly.

The points allocations seem to be rigged to reduce branch and cash transactions and to increase credit card revenue,

The differences between Gold and Platinum points allocations reinforce this.

Exactly and actually very easy to get there. You literally don't need to jump through the hoops.

Just know what is needed to get there and you will.

Where you do need cash, grab it @till and using your Cheque Card, everything else swipe your Credit Card, with the autopayment option pay your Credit Card in full or the statement balance.

For those without a CC, yes they are inadvertently pushing you towards getting one.

If you are referring to your private banking earn, it will remain the same. Private Clients changed in July.

Yes I know.
However, what I see on Online Banking differs from the points breakdown my private banker sent me for my account.
