Tips to Boost your eBucks

I've spent some time looking if I'd be able to retain level 5 without any major inconvenience or expense. The short answer is No!
This is after I'd do the following:
1. Change my Private Clients Credit Card to Platinum
2. Switch all my spending from Cheque Card to Credit Card

I'd have to switch R10k+ out of an existing collective investment into FNB which I don't really want to do, and hope that for my home loan application (currently with an originator), I get the best (or close to the best) terms from FNB.

Quick question - I have a platinum Cheque account and gold credit card. Are points added up to allocate my reward level? Or will it work like how it does currently where the higher level held on a product (between platinum and gold) determines your reward level?

Thanks

also in a similar position, and would prefer to stay as is, but would like to know where exactly I lose out if I do not move my credit card to platinum as well, but keep it on silver

Your reward level will be determined solely by your cheque account.

What I'm thinking of doing is reopening my platinum cheque account, getting a platinum credit card, and moving my banking from Capitec and closing my Capitec account.

But, I'll keep my Discovery card and use that whenever I'm at Woolies or Pick N Pay. I'll purchase non food items from checkers (handy andy etc) and food from either woolies or pick n pay.

Details in the attached pics, especially beneficial to those who have plat CC and gold Cheque or vice versa.
Sorry for the grainy images

Are you sure?

Your reward level will be determined solely by your cheque account.

Are you sure about this - I've been in touch with FNB today?

I've been led to believe that there will be 2 reward levels. Credit card will therefore never go above reward level 1 and it will be impossible to get platinum reward level to level 5?

They are combining them - you will only have one reward level. Somebody on a different thread mentioned that you might be penalised for not having two cards of the same colour.

Is there now a discount on platinum for smart device subscriptions?

This what I find on the first page but not on any of the other pages.

These new rules are awful. I'm currently on Platinum level 5 and it seems without racking up a ton of debt it will be impossible to reach level 5 with these new rules. Ill be hovering around the level 2 area. I honestly don't need or want an overdraft, credit card or loans of any type, the fees are just not worth it to get ebucks.

This new rules are no good. I don't want to use a credit card, it's there for an emergency. As soutie said they want you in debt and all im trying to do is get debt free.

Credit card understanding fail.
Spend on it. Settle in full each month. Earn the ebucks. Pay no interest. What's the problem?

Some people don't have any self-control and will max out the credit card every month. If I had to do that, it would take more than a month to settle the balance. In hindsight I should've requested a lower limit.

For starters, the R200 yearly fee along with the, what is it now, R59 a month Plus a credit facility service fee? It is totally unnecessary. I like to deal soley in cash

Welllllll, the idea is to earn more ebucks, isn't it? Which will easily offset those costs. You can choose NOT to go this route, but then don't complain about getting fewer rewards.

The culture of entitlement in SA is just getting more and more prevalent. *SMH*

Question for those in the know:
"The maximum amount of eBucks you can earn on an active FNB Laptop, Smartphone or Laptop contract per month is eB5 000."

Is that per contract, or total?

Need some clarity - if you have Platinum Cheque Account and a Platinum Credit Card, will you no longer pay the R200 linkage fee only if you're on the Unlimited pricing option?
So if you're on Fee Saver (I'm on this) will I still need to pay the R200 linkage fee?
