Tips to Boost your eBucks

Why waste your eBucks on checkers vouchers? If nothing else save them. A few of us have said checkers vouchers are the worst way to spend eBucks...

Explain "waste"?

Converting to cash @40% discount doesn't seem like a waste to me?

Indeed.
Definitely not the worst way to spend ebucks.
The only reason they're "less efficient" than say Makro vouchers is that you can EARN 15% at checkers on your CC which you can't at makro, so if you're going to shop at both it makes sense to use the ebucks on makro vouchers.

Has the Savings Pocket earning rule fallen away?

If so what's the point of having it at all? Might as well just leave the money in my Cheque Account to score the points there?

Also what's the best alternative if I want to have 50k sitting somewhere that is reasonably accessible and still score points?

Savings Pocket rule is still there on Gold
Have a linked FNB Savings Pocket with Bank Your Change and maintain a monthly balance of:
Between R5 000 and R19 999 - 500 RL points
R20 000 or more - 1000 RL points

you know a mind change happened when you want to put 50K somewhere to gain points rather than worrying about interest :P

but yes - getting a reward of R1500 per month for a 50k investment - that is some serious returns :O

I think leaving in cheque account gives the best reward currently (on PC rules) 2000 points

Now a minimum balance of R5000 is required compared to R2000 on the old rules.
No way in hell do I have the luxury to keep R5000 in a savings pocket, so I just moved it to an investment account which has now become another way to score points on Gold with the new rules (minimum balance of R2500 in investment account and R150 monthly transfers).

Bummer, since I'm on Platinum.

In my case this is money that I'm holding onto to pay someone else so I might as well score the benefits of the points.

I assume that if my balance dipped below the required amounts already this month that I'm buggered and would need to have it "rollover" at the end of the month with the 50k in place before the 1st?

Or can I move it across now and maybe still score?

Still begs the question why even have the Savings Pocket?

Where does one even find the interest rate of the Cheque vs Savings Pocket?

Care to elaborate on which investment account that qualifies? Might consider the same if I can get the money out easily enough. I thought the monthly needed to be much more, but maybe it's a Gold thing.

Savings pocket is useless, unless you have the "Easy" accounts with less than R20k in the savings pocket. Which is actually a nice savings accounts, with a super cheap account.

Google make finding that very easy.

Funny when I Googled I got to a similar page but it gave me something like "These rates are not available right now".

What about the Cheque Account itself? Is there no interest to be made? Does it have to be in the Savings Pocket?

For me it's a management tool to separate my disposable money from my "day-to-day" money, and keep track of when I am saving vs when I'm spending (...i have a scheduled transfer from the cheque account into the savings pocket, and i manually transfer back from the savings pocket as needed)
I personally don't bother with what I can earn on the disposable money, cos it's never accumulating to enough for the earn rate to mean anything.
When I do accumulate any significant amount of money, I personally prefer putting it into my bond to "effectively earn" me the most by reducing the cost of financing my debt.

(...not much of an eBucks tip, so sorry for going off topic)

Many options to choose from.

Yeah it's been much the same reason why I've used it as I needed to keep some money separate.

But now that I use my Credit Card only for everything it seems less and less useful.

My fiancé would love to earn ebucks at Woolworths... Lol! Checkers quality isn't great most of the time.
