Tips to Boost your eBucks

FNB clearly states that you earn up to 15% ebucks at cherkers, but it excludes municipality and telkom bills, prepaid electricity and airtime ect.

Which is why, paying your telkom bill online come October, you can earn up to 4% now instead of the up to 2.5% which was the max, and that is the most you will get for it. The only way I can see earning more on your Telkom landline, is if it is prepaid and you can buy that online from the FNB banking website. I never checked into that because adsl for you on to postpaid telkom landline.

I know it's been discussed, but do card-not-present transactions count for overseas purchases (and thus get 1500 points)?
For example, my unotelly and netflix are both monthly card-not-present transactions - would these count?

Good day Mr. xxxxxx

We apologise for the delay in response.

Thank you for your email regarding the changes to the eBucks Rewards earn rules.

Below we endeavour to address your questions and concerns.

1. Gold account holders are traditionally on a different salary/income bracket. Based on this the rules are different for Gold Account holders and this why we require different values for
savings and investments for our Gold customers.

2. Platinum banking customers can collects points on their credit card spend in the following ways:

Arrange an Auto Payment (debit order) on your FNB Platinum Credit Card. 500

Swipe your credit card in a calendar month for:
Between R2 000 and R4 999 - 1 000
Between R5 000 and R9 999 - 1 500
Between R10 000 and R19 999 - 2 000
R20 000 or more - 2 500

Use between 10% and 90% of your credit limit during a calendar month.
(These percentages are based both on budget and straight facilities on your FNB Platinum Credit Card) 3 000

You have not exceeded your limit or gone into arrears for:
Between six and eighteen months - 750
More than eighteen months - 1500

Use your FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Card to swipe internationally. 1 500

3. In addition, Platinum banking customers receive double shopping rewards when shopping online and internationally.
4. Use between 10% and 90% of your budget and your straight facility: to gain the maximum benefit out of your Credit Card spend, please make use of the 55 days interest free period, or
alternatively prefund your credit card from your cheque account prior to shopping.

We trust that the above addresses any concerns you may have regarding the eBucks Rewards programme and your earn opportunities as a Platinum Banking Customer.

4. Use between 10% and 90% of your budget and your straight facility:
Nope. Just 20% of the total of the two.
Disable budget if you don't like it ;)
I interpret it as 10% of the total. The reason being that at any point in time, you can allocate your credit limit between the 2 as you see fit. So for example, if your total limit is 20k, you can have your straight limit as 18k and budget as 2k if you so desire.

edit: Alternatively, in my example do they mean at least 10% of 18k and also at least 10% of 2k must be used.

That is also My interpretation, but one should not have to interpret rules. The rules should be clear and precise.

If i've got both a platinum credit / cheq account do I double the points for reward level or not?

e.g.

Do not exceed your limit or go in to arrears. 6months = 750 points, 18 months = 1500.

If I hold both accounts and both are not in arrears do I double these points or not?

EDIT: At this stage i've got lvl 5 if I move to gold cheq / gold credit but only lvl 3 if I stay on platinum / platinum...

Thx

That is the exact issue. No clear answer whether it is simply a combined value percentage, or separate conditional percentages.

I'm 99.9% sure you don't get to double your reward points. Otherwise everybody would find it really easy to reach level 5.

For every online purchase with your FNB Platinum Accounts after R5 000 you earn eBucks at your shopping (swipes) reward rate

This a real bummer , was hoping to register my self for snapscan then scan and send money back to the card :P

snapscan only ask 3% of the total cost , where i would of earn 4% back in back in ebucks.

Where does it say that? I thought it was 4% of online shopping all the time? I mean, on the highest level. Shopping on the highest level gives you 2% back.

So does the 4% only apply after R5000?

4% back for online shopping till R5000 , then it goes to 2% which is the swipe rate

How do I get original bank statements without making use of an FNB branch?

Platinum rules:
Use our electronic channels instead of an FNB Branch; use our electronic channels instead - they're convenient and secure:
No branch transactions in the last month 500
No branch transactions in the last three months 1 000
No branch transactions in the last six months 1 500

So if you or someone else deposit money into your bank account via a branch, does it count as a branch transaction?

No need for a bank stamp. The statements on online banking is the exact same that they post, only in PDF format. Only if you use transaction history as a statement will you need a bank stamp. My bank statements are only sent by email and if printed in colour, cannot be told apart from those arriving in the post.

bottom line (from eBucks perspective) - it does not serve FNB to have a well informed consumer, their bottom line will get hit - obfuscation serves a purpose
