Question: I want to earn ebucks on my City of Joburg account (water & Lights etc). What is the best way to go about this? Just pay with credit card or debit card via easypay in a checkers or something?

Hi Guys,

Just got back from FNB as I moved my Standard Bank account as per a previous thread.

Anyway, was told that as from October your rewards will be 15% and not up to 15% no more. Seems like they putting a blanket reward now for everyone. That being said, It was such a painless experience glad I moved. Was long over due :o

That is not correct. It will mimic the private clients rewards setup.

^^ Lol, unfortunately I have found FNB staff on the ground to not be that clued up about their own rules. The same goes for all the Premier Bankers that have been assigned to me.

Can't say that I disagree with you. I received conflicting information on the rewards programs from pretty much everyone I spoke to during the signup process.

Just got a call from my banker and he told me about the restructure. There won't be a rolling 12 month period any longer, it will be on a monthly basis.

If the banks are starting to let people know, I'm guessing official announcement shoud be in the next day or two?

Hmm, I foresee problems. I'm level 5 on my platinum cheque account and level 1 on my private clients credit card.

Will they make me a level 2 and a half?

Nope, you'll have 2 different reward levels. You only share a reward level when you have the same type of cheque and credit card accounts (both gold, both platinum, etc).

Rather align them.

@sjm, thanks, so if aligned we will be in an equal or better position than we are now with FNB applying the points collectively from both cheque and credit card. Sounds good :)

I am in level 5 comfortably at the moment, took me a while to get there. Does that mean, it might send me down a few levels because of last months spend?

This new system sucks for me big time, I see myself losing a lot in a month when overseas working

If aligned you'll be in a far better position than if not aligned :) The rules are changing for some things though, so read through them and make sure you're doing the right things.

Spend is not a massive points giver, so even with lower spend you can still end up with a huge amount of points (like with cheque cards currently).

They will be offering you to align them soon enough.
