Tips to Boost your eBucks

Does anyone know if there's a limit on ebucks earn on credit card swipes? For Gold and Platinum.
Cant seem to find it anywhere

I used Platinum for years, but I switched to their Gold accounts because the quality of Premier Banking was very erratic and didn't justify the fees.

For many things that require bank statements they will no longer accept it unless it has been stamped by the bank. Last time I needed statements FNB would not stamp the ones I'd printed, but required me to pay them to print and stamp them in the bank.

Back when I was a Platinum customer last year, I was tired of receiving bad service from the so-called Premier Banking service. So I downgraded to the cheapest account they had. While doing that, the Service Manager (who has since resigned, a great pity because she actually was good), said that I was entitled to a Premier Banker, and that if that wasn't enough, she would personally handle queries on my account.

Lo and behold, I re-upgrade to Platinum only to hear that they have changed the qualifying rules which means no Premier Banker for me, and the Service Manager has resigned. So I told them to cancel my platinum account again. Still waiting for a response.

What are the new qualifying rules?
I believe that to get a named Platinum banker one needs to be earning R600k p/a

R750k per annum since the 1st of May.

But I reckon they have some discretion as far as that goes - they just chose not to give me one. Doesnt matter, I'll take my business elsewhere. I absolutely refuse to deal with that premier banking call centre. It isnt worth any amount of eBucks that I could earn.

Dealing with any call centre is hell. How often do you deal with the call centre that you're willing to 'sacrifice' eBucks earn?

EDIT: that's a really big gap between qualifying for platinum and qualifying for a named banker!

Isn't the named Banker thing now called graphite or carbon or something?

Might be. A colleague has graphite.

It really isn't worth the headache. I was already getting R300 per month in rewards with pretty low bank charges. Going to FNB would require me to pay out R200 bucks per month, and it would take me a long time to reach the higher levels. I even think it would take me a few months to reach level 6. So I'd pay down this cash (R200 per month) while trying to build my reward level up enough to be useful, while getting terrible service from the so-called premier banking centre.

Besides, I'll probably soon reach gold on my vitality status, which will boost my cash back even more. Maybe when I am earning more (or if) I might go back to them for graphite. The frustrations that I have had with FNB's regular call centre make me never want to deal with it again.

^^ What is this level 6 you speak of? :p

Can't say any of the named bankers I have ever been assigned were that great.

This graphite option confuses me, is it in between Platinum and Private? My named banker emailed me the graphite thing, really doesn't seem worth it though. The FNB banking app offered me a Private Client Credit Card but I see earning level 5 is a tough one for private clients!

I should hit level 5 pc this month. Expecting around 10k ebucks... Well, hoping anyway :-P

Whats the maximum eBucks you have earned till date in a month.Just asking to find whether its worth the pain.

Haven't really been focusing on ebucks up till now. Used to collect discovery miles but have decided that there are too many hoops to jump through to stay on diamond

Its the one where the bank manager gives you handjobs.

Yeah apparently it is between platinum and private. A new product.

Jesus ****ing christ. I'm livid. They've ****ing moved all the PC targets AGAIN. Instead of level five, I'm ****ing level 3. They moved the points for bond around so instead of the 5000 I was expecting, I get 2000.
Going to go postal soon.

I tried to educate myself on New eBucks rules and spoke to 2-3 FNB sales consultants over phone. I ended up more confused than convinced now.
1)I asked about 10-90% of straight and budget facility on a credit card.1st guy said its 10-90% of combined and you will earn points if you spend the amt between these.2nd one told no it has to be separate and 3rd one said combined. So what's the real point
2)I asked about international purchase and specifically about paypal payments and he said it doesn't have to be a physical swipe and as long as we purchase from other country its fine but was not sure about paypal

Another problem is the limits on eBucks earn from checkers and fuel. Its 30% & 20% respectively. So I thought it has to be the combined usage of your cheque and credit cards but apparently its not if you use cheque card its 20% of the card used ie cheque card.
Also they told me that if you use credit card to purchase fuel or airtime it invites interest. So I am very confused about all this can someone guide me about the new rules.
I was thinking of using credit card for all swipes as it generates more eBucks than cheque card but if I use it to purchase fuel then I have to pay interest and it will be very difficult to use cheque card and be within % rule limits. Thanks

If you have a petro card linked to your credit card, that definitely accrues interest from day 1.
If you pay with the credit card it is the usual 55 days as far as I know, but then you are not 100% guaranteed that it will go through as a fuel purchase, and stand a chance it goes through as a normal purchase, in which case you earn far less ebucks. While they do state that, I found that every swipe for fuel thus far has gone through as a fuel purchase.

Worst case scenario, you can prevent interest on the CC by just transferring money to it before you use it. Ie, use it as if the credit limit on it was set at R0.

I was also under the impression that the 20/30% limits is per card, so you need to keep all your swipes to 1 card. Don't see why you would want to split some off to your cheque card anyways. Just use the cheque card for cash@till withdraws, everything else swipe the cc.

Okay, now I have to ask what the deal is with the petro card. If one takes away the guarantee for "fuel" purchase validation for eBucks, what is the point of the card?

It runs on your credit card balance directly, only works for petrol, and charges interest immediately.
A credit card runs directly on the balance, is usable for almost anything, and has almost two months interest free use in a way.

I think you will get benefits like roadside assistance and some AA services etc.
