I have the free 4Mbps uncapped, its not bad but the IPC links is slightly congested lately, and they only have IPC links in JHB.

I use a VOX gig4gig with Uncapped Bolt-On for the evenings and weekends to have faster internet, and FNB during the day.
Cool, so is that only costing you R59 per month for the uncapped bolt-on, and nothing for the gig4gig since the first GB is free?

I'm on 2mbps currently so 4mbps would be an upgrade :p

Did you have to pay two separate setup fees though to get started?

Correct, only R59 per month, since I don't use the free 1GB.

Both the uncapped bolt-on and gig4gig had a once-off setup for of I think R50. So R100 once off for that as well. Hope that answers your last question.

I have a 10Mbps line, so can definitely feel the slower FNB speed during the day. Their throttling policy is, if you use more than 10GB for the day, you get throttled to almost nothing the rest of the day, but it resets the next day at least.

I am very confused now after speaking to another sales agent at FNB credit card.My credit card billing happens between 18-17th every month. How is it going to affect my monthly ebucks earnings, they say after 18th it goes to next month billing cycle. What you guys think how can we calculate the spend for the month?

On FNB internet banking, if you change the date on which your credit card debits your cheque account, they also warn you, changing that date affects your ebucks earning calender cycle. So it is not just the agent that said that. I find it easiest, to just leave it on the 1st of the month, like all my other debit orders. That way, no funny ebucks cycle for my credit card.

OK, but if your credit card payment due date is the 1st, then your credit card billing cycle ends on the 6th or 7th.

My cycle used to end on the 8th or 9th, then when i queried some inconsistencies around eBucks Rewards, they said there was some sort of issue around that so best to have my billing cycle end on the 5th or 6th. So I changed it and now my payment due date is always (iirc) on the last day of the month.

Well that is actually some good advice.

Looked online now to change this, I assume you pick 31 as the day of the month and they will hopefully move it forward for shorter months?

Yes, i would imagine so. 2.5 yrs ago I changed my payment date to the 30th (perhaps I should have chosen the 31th instead).

For my own sake (and anyone else interested) I had a look back at the last few months.
To explain the below, the bolded bit is the filename of the statement that FNB sends customers and indicates the date that the statement was generated and emailed. Next is the statement date and finally the payment due date. Note that there is inconsistency in everything except the due date. Very irritating!

FNB Card 2014-04-09.pdf, statement date 7th, due on the 30th
FNB Card 2014-05-07.pdf, statement date 5th, due on the 30th
FNB Card 2014-06-12.pdf, statement date 5th, due on the 30th
FNB Card 2014-07-09.pdf, statement date 7th, due on the 30th
FNB Card 2014-08-06.pdf, statement date 5th, due on the 30th
FNB Card 2014-09-06.pdf, statement date 5th, due on the 30th

The most crucial date to me as an FNB customer is actually the statement date as this is when the billing cycle in question ends. I'd rather have this being consistent and I can probably live with the payment date moving one or 2 days forward or back. The statement date is only ever known to me a couple of days after the fact. The emailed statement is usually preceded by an SMS from FNB which at leasts gives an earlier indication that the next billing cycle has begun. This is critical to maximising the benefits of the FNB Rewards programme, because what you spend and in what ratio during what period sets the limits of the eBucks that you get back for the period in question.

In my experience, I've only ever been charged interest when using a petrocard to buy petrol. When using my normal credit card, that has not occurred. Disclaimer: I didnt read your posted link yet as the hour is late :)

Using the petrol card has always attracted fees and on a credit card account interest too. It's a linked card therefore the transactions are on shown on the same account. If you look at an FNB card statement you'll see that they do list the amount spent on fuel using a petrol card as a separate entry as well.

We've been using our credit cards to buy petrol for a couple of years now and have never been charged interest or any transaction fees. We stopped using petrol cards when they changed the rules to allow buying using a credit card.

I just upgraded my Cheque account to Platinum as well to benefit from the R199.00 bundle option (if you have both Cheque + Credit Card on the same level).

I did this as I see the Ebucks requirements seem to have changed again. When I calculated (when the new benefits were announced) I was only going to get level 3. Seems I could now end up with level 5 - so I think they changed them again without announcing them or I miscalculated...

Platinum rewards: https://www.ebucks.com/web/eBucks/earn/fnb-platinum-2014.jsp
Gold rewards: https://www.ebucks.com/web/eBucks/earn/fnb-gold-2014.jsp

If I want to downgrade from Platinum to Gold cheque card (as I will qualify for level 5 on Gold but hardly level 2 if I remain on platinum) I asume today would be the first day to do so?

I would assume you are too late for it to have a positive effect for next month. You would need to probably be on the desired account for a full month, so positive results in your case would be experienced in December.

So how does one go about closing a savings pocket? Do you have to phone them?

I just logged a ticket within the internet banking website online. A day later got a call, guy saying he closed account as instructed.
They also moved pending interest and money back to my cheque account, but I also had that in my instruction.

Next up, trying to get my credit card linked, without them trying to deduct R200, which should not be applicable anymore if both CC and Cheque account is plat.

Im trying to downgrade to gold from platinum because I wont be able to maintain level 5 on the new rules. FNB is saying that you can only downgrade your account from inside a branch. This means I will not be getting the following points for the next six months:

"Don’t do any transactions at an FNB branch (including statement transaction requests in branch) in 6 months, but do all your transactions using our electronic channels 1000"

Is there anyone that has successfully downgraded their account over the phone?
