Lol . This was the highest denomination card they had. Going to putting up a car port this weekend so this will go along way to covering some of the materials.
So you selected R1000 gift cards in the drop down list and they gave you R250 cards? :wtf:

Not rich. Just know how to work the system.
hmm - interesting. Quick question - what is the minimum monthly spend required to get 28K ebucks. Excluding things like having FD, device payment etc. The reason I am asking is that I tick nearly all the boxes (and get maximum points) except for Overdraft facility (which I don't have), and I get about 3K ebucks. So, only way I can get to 28K ebucks is to spend approximately 9 times more per month?

Most of my ebucks I get from spending at Checkers, fuel and online transactions.

My wife transfers most of her salary to my account then we only swipe with my credit card.

I now pay municipal and Telkom accounts online and not via EFT. The ebucks earn rate is also higher being on Private Clients level 5. I do not spend extra to get the ebucks. My fuel spend is high as we have two cars and both of us drive about 100km per day.

I think about eBucks in terms of Rand value of eBucks earned per R100 spent. It is easier to picture that way. For instance, on Wednesday I spent R300 at Checkers. Because I am currenly on reward level 4, I get R7.5 per R100 spent, so I got around R22 for that.

In terms of earning 28k eBucks, that is R2800. The maximum one can earn if R15 per R100 spent. Therefore, to find out how many R100s you would need to spend, divide 2800 by 15. The answer is 186. Multiply back by R100, and you get R18k.

So, the absolute minimum that you need to spend on your credit card every month to get R2800 worth of eBucks back is R18k. In most cases though, the real figure would be higher, because part of your spend would be things like online purchases and normal credit card shopping, which earn at a lower rate.

Yeah the first step to high ebucks earn is to make sure you are level 5 each month. Then after that you have to make sure you first spend your money at the right places, eg.
Petrol = easy,
groceries mus be at Checkers but fairly easy too.
My cellphones moved to prepaid, so airtime is now via the FNB channels instead of via debit order on contract.
Then make sure accounts get paid via credit card, eg. municipalities online, of worst case, pay with your credit card at Checkers market place, but online is better as it is 4% vs 2% earn on platinum.

If my electricity was on prepaid, I would buy that via FNB as well.

Basically make sure you get the 15% back where possible, which is fuel, checkers, prepaid airtime, prepaid electricity. Then get 4% for online vs 2% for swiping.

Stay away from drawing cash, stay away from EFTs, then pay online where possible, then swipe.

Thats pretty much how to increase ebucks earn, without spending more. Spending more should always be the last option, and if you do, make sure you spend it where you get maximum earn. I always check what I can get from Checkers Hyper first, they sometimes do have all kinds of stuff that you don't find at the normal Checkers. You will be surprised.

Oh and buy booze from Checkers Liquor.

Because I have Discovery and FNB cards, I maximize my rewards by spending at the highest reward level possible. I buy healthy food from pick n pay, everything else from Checkers, and use my FNB card for fuel and pretty much everything else.

Oh and I use the Discovery card at discovery partners, such as Uber, Cape Union Mart, Incredible Connection, Exclusive Books, etc etc.

Ebucks rocks. I know the saying, there's no such thing as a free lunch, but I'm not the one paying for it.

I don't mind paying the R300 every month in Bank fees.

Ebucks earned in February = eB28 000
Builders warehouse vouchers = R4 500.00 (18xR250)

cant have FNB discover that we actually make money by banking with them :P :P :P

So cr card is a credit card, what on earth is a dr card? Honestly, sometimes I have to question the ambiguous acronyms people come up with.

quick question guys.

With the sometimes ridiculous T&C's, I have been studying each and every document to finally get up to Lev5.

I should be on Lev5 by March, just want to find out when Ebucks does their actual Points Calculation run each month?

Reason Im asking is, I want to use my overdraft, and make my online payments and not miss the points run due to using these facilities on a different day each month (If the points run is for example on the 5th to the 5th of each month, I dont want to make my online payments on the 4rd of Feb the one month and then on the 6th of March the next month.)

PS and totally non related: What ever you do dont transfer money from your Cheque to your CC (so your CC has a positive balance). Doesnt count for CC spend.

Do the fuel and Checkers earn apply to both debit and credit cards?
I've wondered the same thing myself.

I've been sticking to credit card spend as it the fuel rewards are interwoven with credit card spend (i.e. the '20% of credit card spend' cap).

Edit: Who wants to volunteer to ask the eBucks "customer service" team?
