On the credit card limit, it is 10% of your total limit (i.e. budget + straight)

On the overdraft question, it's not enough to just have one. You actually have to use some of it...

Where does it say that? It says use your CC limit but it says " Have an Overdraft Facility "...not Use it?

No, you need to make sure that your running balance gets between -8500 and -76500 and stays that way overnight for at least one day of the month. Doesn't have to be there the whole period, you must just have it there overnight at least once a month.

Thanx. I will try this, this month and see what happens.

Pretty certain the overdraft facility goes along the lines of:
"Have an overdraft facility of R5000 or more and use at least 10% or a minimum or R500"

I also got the offer to upgrade to Private Client Cheque and Credit Card but two things worry me that would affect my reward level.

Considering I have been with them for over 3 years I earn those points to put me into Level 5 currently on Platinum. If I now had to get the new credit card and Cheque Account under Private Clients will it reset to 0 and I have to wait 18 months to start earning those points again or will it just continue knowing that I have had a platinum cheque and credit card?

Here are the images.

I also receive a salary from overseas and have a Forex Standing order and also Forex online payment but have never received eBucks from this. Who can I contact to rectify this.

Thanks

Those points still get allocated. It does not rest. I upgraded in September and still get those points.

TO upgrade to private clients does one has to earn in excess of 752000/year or is it possible to have monthly deposit of more than 32000 Rand.I got different replies from FNB itself.
Can anyone confirm what the criteria is?

Well I don't earn anywhere close to R752k per year and don't have issues being on private clients and still getting ebucks.

They will take anyone at this level even If it compromises your ability to earn eBucks. The additional earn in fees is what they are after. Private Wealth is when the really stringent checks and balances are put in place. IMHO of course.

FNB wants to bump me up to Platinum, but I don't even have enough monthly deposits in the account to qualify for Ebucks if I did. So, like wtf?

I was thinking the same thing: they see you earning nicely from their ebucks for a while, offer a 'better' card and they score with extra card fee AND giving away less ebucks.

A friend said he was level 5 Platinum and after the upgrade, he's only level 3 Private

I think Platinum probably offers the best balance between how easy it is to move up reward levels, and the reward caps.

I made sure that I will retain level 5 after my upgrade. Would not have made the switch otherwise.

Also the reason why I haven't taken up their offer to go to Private Wealth.

I see that the rules for platinum and private clients are exactly same so wont make a difference to level.

Yeah.. just had a look and the RL earnings rules are a 100% match. So... if you can meet the below 3 qualifying criteria; you're in.

To qualify for rewards each month you will need to:

  • Have an active FNB Private Clients Cheque Account in good standing
  • Have total monthly deposits of at least R32 500 in your FNB Private Clients Cheque Account
  • Transact at least once a month using our electronic channels (FNB Banking App, Online Banking, Cellphone Banking or Telephone Banking)

Currently on platinum my monthly bundled fee is R199 whereas on private that would go up to R345 According to Page13 ...correct?. Thus it would make sense to switch as; yes you pay about 150 bucks more per month, but if you work the system you should earn more in ebucks.. yes?

Or look at it a different way, if you make the qualifying criteria, do you currently hit the ebucks limits on platinum at all? If you very close or on the limits, then yes upgrade.

If you not really close or at the earn limits on platinum, why upgrade? It is as good as throwing away a R146 worth of ebucks each month in that case.
