Well I'm ALL IN now.

Credit Card Activated and ready to go.

I assume it makes more sense to keep Fuel on the cheque card as the rewards are the same? No point in having a petrol card then.

The only advantage with the petrol card is the free AA. But then again, the petrol card is for free I think.

Just use your CC or cheque card when filling up

Use your CC only. Remember 100% spend on CC rule to get 4000 reward level points.

In the end their partnership with Makro or Checkers will end at some point.

The Checkers one will likely remain for some time imo. FNB don't want people to go to branches or use ATM's. Checkers must be doing well out of this too, I for one never shopped there, now I do several thousand a month.

But you pay interest on petrol with the CC don't you? And it's not like the limit is higher.

100% spend? I thought it must be between 10% & 90%?

Petrol card is R17 odd rand a month from what I had seen. Not a great deal of cash but I really don't want to carry yet another card and I already had Roadside Assist through my insurance.

More worrying though is that I did just $200 online transaction now with the new CC and it didn't ask me for a OTP?

Do I need to activate this somewhere? Or doesn't it apply to all sites. Little bit worrying. I know the Cheque card had OTP's for something the other day.

Btw did you end up being able to use the vouchers for online purchases?

Yes - not online, but was an online exclusive item.
Went into the store, spoke to a salesperson there.
They put through the order for me then I paid at a till in the usual way. Awaiting delivery now.

Check that you have Online Secure enabled:

From your card account, select "Cards" tab.

Note, not all vendors support it.

Interest is only charged when you don't pay the amount owned in full when you are past your due date.

The 100% spending means, only use your CC when buying goods / fuel etc in the month

Aaah I heard a little birdy whistle that petrol is excluded from the 55 day interest free period?

But am I correct that you don't earn any more eBucks using the CC? So would it make any difference at all to use the CC over the Cheque?

Thanks man, I'm pretty sure I did it the other day but I did it again now and the SMS did verify I'm activating Online Secure.

A bit silly that it still keeps say Activate even after you've done it.

Hopefully it will work next time now, but as you say maybe it's just the vendor.

Oh okay lekker.

For swipes specifically?

Debit Orders excluded I mean.

Correct. Rule says 100% of spend on credit card.

Total monthly spend on your FNB Platinum Credit Card:
Between 25% and 49.9% of your total monthly spend is on your Platinum Credit Card
500
Between 50% and 74.9% of your total monthly spend is on your Platinum Credit Card
1 000
Between 75% and 99.9% of your total monthly spend is on your Platinum Credit Card
2 000
100% of your total monthly spend is on your Platinum Credit Card
4 000
Total monthly spend = Platinum Credit Card spend + Platinum Cheque Card spend; excludes EFTs and transfers.
