Thank you eBucks!

very nice!!
i have converted mine to groceries the last 9 months - about R15k if i calculated correctly as per order history.

should maybe consider to save up for one of those though. how much was it (assuming its a makro purchase?)

10k, bought with 40 percent discounted vouchers :D

So then it's 6k in real money after 40% discount.

That was my real question.
Yes 60-odd thousand ebucks.

Which was just over 10 grand in real money as evidenced by 10 grand stove ;)

Ebucks is not real money

In real cost terms then if you want to get technical.

He used vouchers from Makro after all.

But I realise what you mean is that there was still no real money involved.

You have got me even more pissed off now that my first month of following all the rules, that I got ****ed by two delayed tractions from offline machines on my cheque card.

The transaction date should still be correct, even if it was batched through late from the speed point.

What date did you swipe? Risky, I'd give myself 2 working days before month end for transactions I want to occur in a particular month. And something like my cheque card, I don't think I've used it at all in the past year.

That's the plan not to the Cheque card again. Only got both Credit Cards end of last month.

It's not a train smash and won't happen again just hoped this month would be the one.

Maybe they see it as 99.99% being good enough.

Just want to check something.

In the past, if you were on the platinum bundle for cheque and cc, you got the R200 yearly ebucks fee discounted to R0 as perk for being on the bundle.
With the new rules, I know that yearly price changed to R16.50 billed per month instead.
Today I noticed I got billed this R16.50

Has this perk for being on the platinum bundle, having the ebucks fee discounted to R0, being removed with the new rules? :(

ps. I couldn't see clarification about this in the new rules, as if they just silently dropped this perk.

I saw that this morning as well.

My question to ebucks is : I paid R200 in feb for the yearly fee ... And now the rules changed. It is now billed per month.

And the R200 paid for the year coming....mmmm ???

Bundled platinum pricing is meant to exempt you from the eBucks monthly charge.

Also if they start charging those of us that paid an annual fee within the last 11 months, then a pro rata refund is owed to us.

edit: I see they owe me this eBucks refund too, in my case R200 / 12 * 5.

No point in staying on Fee Saver any longer. The 'privilege' is costing me about R24 extra per month vs Bundled.

So now with the new reduced '20% of total spend cap' at checkers I may find myself using Makro vouchers for some grocery shopping even. Since I reckon I'll be hitting the Checkers cap by about the 21st day of each month. More reason to go to WW now and take advantage of Vitality healthy food discounts. Or one can score quite nicely if you only buy things on special at WW.

i have been thinking about this today as well.

one can only by so much toys from Makro, after which it starts to make sense to balance out checkers and Makro purchases?

especially considering that you will save on buying bulk at makro.

My plan from this month onwards :

* use ebucks returns to max out makro voucher. do a full-on shopping at makro for any items that might last 6 months to a year (this will cost me some cash)
* buy the weekly items at checkers.
* next month, only buy groceries at makro for the voucher value - and any remainders at checkers.

This should balance out i think. Only challenges comes as per Sinbad above- if i want to buy a 10k item - which a gas stove will actually save some electricity (and reduce my rewards on prepaid power :/) - eish choices choices

^ Well, as you say, get the weekly stuff at Checkers, but I'd adjust that plan to say make Makro a monthly trip. But try avoid the trap of spending at Makro on things that aren't needed. Respect your eBucks like real money as that is what it's saving you at the end of the day :)

Also aim to spend (up to) that 20% of total card spend at Checkers each month. This is of course assuming RL5. RL3 or lowers and it's almost not worth the time of managing it all, IMO.
