Tips to Boost your eBucks

ABSA missed the point in why eBucks is awesome.
When a competitor starts targeting your rewards program, you know you have won the battle
ABSA's whole ad campaign* is a testament to (a) the success of eBucks, and (b) the laziness of people to want to understand anything that takes more than 30 seconds of attention

* "When's the last time you found a lucky point" , "Points don't make the word go round"

Yeah, but they don't have much to work with. Their rewards program is utter ****e.

Right folks.

Need some help to decide which account type to go for. Premier or Gold.

I don't spend that much in a month that would make the premier requirements easily attainable for the points, but some of the others are.

From your personal experience, which account is the easiest to hit level 5 and stay there? Or is it purely a case of sit down, do the math and go with whichever option gets you level 5 consistently?

Gold, get to L5, see if you're hitting any caps that would warrant the upgrade to platinum...

Thank you.

New to all this - was just lazy in the past - but I've seen it is very much worth while to sit and work out the system.

Great benefits to be had all round.

Good thread this as well.

If finding the website calculator too confusing yeah, go for gold. But i would advise spending half an hour to use the calculator and work out which is best. Else you might find you get capped on Gold too easily.

Also, depends on ones needs. Free uncapped adsl data on Premier is already worth a couple hundred bucks to me and not available on Gold.

Uncapped is free on Gold as well. Currently using the 6mb Uncapped free of charge and I'm on Gold

What is the below?

They have other criteria for overdraft, credit card, personal loan, temporary loan - so what is? :/

Have a Revolving Loan of at least R10 000 and use between 10% and 100% 2000

Ts & Cs say torrents and p2p restricted. What speed do you get?

I only use it as a back up account but from what I've seen - downloads are completely dead from 7am to 9pm
After 9pm you get 1/2 - 3/4 of your line speed

P2P is a no go generally speaking yes, but I've had no issues with NNTP servers or game related download services.

I don't understand why I am not getting ebucks. I got RMB CC and it doesn't earn ebucks. I phoned ebucks, and they said I must get a cheque card. Only then will ebucks be earned on the cc. This sounds doff. Is this true?

Have an RMB Private Bank Cheque, Professionals Account or Single Facility Account that is active – which means you transact on the account – and where you either:
- deposit a minimum amount of R44 500 (Cheque Account or Single Facility) or R32 500 (Professionals Account) per month
- have deposited a minimum total amount of R150 000 over the previous three months; OR
- maintain a minimum balance of R100 000 throughout the month.

I'm using this account as my primary account since my primary usage in the day is streaming. And it seems silly to pay for Data (if I don't have to) for youtube or other services like this.
The nntp stuff I have runs at midnight on another isp account and runs at full speed. Ive found nntp downloads typically cap at 200-ish k/s on the 6mb fnb account. I'm not complaining at all, since I get what I need to out of this.
I hope this doesn't disappear anytime soon!

Sounds similar to my experience.

Downloading 15gb of RB6 Siege today and tomorrow using the account. Due to my 2mbps line I can only pull 700mb per hour. No complaints as I already pulled that amount of data for the game's beta versions at full line speed.

I wasn't doubting you personally, I was just saying what their official stance is according to their website. Look, I won't report your freebie to them if you don't want me to ;)

Glitches happen, someone I know even got a free ADSL line for a few months because when the ISP who the line was with cancelled the service, Telkom neglected to pull the plug on their end :D

It could be a communication problem, or perhaps the wording of what you were referring to, was intended to mean something else.
