Not really eBucks related, but you guys will be the best to ask:
What are the pros and cons of having the linked Petro card? Will it affect eBucks earning in anyway?

I want to get one for the free AA roadside assistance

Shouldn't affect eBucks - I think you still get the 15% back

Does anyone know if the FNB LTE/ 3G products qualify for points?

not sure about the LTE ( still demo, since iburst barely has a network), BUT , i am really loving the 40% ebucks return on my FNB connect simcard.

a few R100 of airtime a month gives me a crap load makro voucher back : D

Meh. That time of the month, when you know you near your online ebucks earn limit. Looks like I wont be using easypay for rates this month.

Can somebody perhaps sum up the basics of the limits.

Lets say I spend on average R10'000 per month on swipes and online transactions.

At what amount do you get capped or throttled as we call it?

Thanks.

On Gold, the swipe limit is R15 000, so you wouldn't hit a swipe cap. The online cap is R3000, so if you exceeded that you'd be capped. I believe it MIGHT be soft capped, i.e. you could still get a much lower eBucks return, but I'm not sure about that.

In the Earn rules section.

Edit: After reading Tinuva's post below and checking the source, that 0.6% is only for Premier. No mention of it for Gold.

Platinum:
online spend to earn ebucks at 4% capped at R5000. Thereafter your online transactions earn 0.6% ebucks even if you on level 5.
While you earn 2% on swipes up t R20000 or something.

I easily hit the online limit, which means, I will earn more ebucks for the rates bill by swiping card vs online using easypay.

He will however pay interest from day one on PetroCard swipes.

edit: Plus a transaction charge.

Purchasing fuel with credit card does not attract the above charges/fees.

Quick question - at Makro do you only earn ebucks on the amount you swipe for? Eg. If you buy for R1200 and have R1000 voucher, will ebucks only be allocated on the R200?

you earn 0.75% on full amount and swipe rate for the R200.

Makro is a ebucks reward partner.

Do you know if paying for Makro Items using the Makro Virtual Voucher will earn you ebucks if you present them with your eBucks card?
for example:
1) Give them the eBucks Card
2) Scans the Items onto the POS Machine (i.e. R9k)
3) Customer pays for Items using the Makro Virtual Vouchers (i.e. R10k)
4) Will you earn Ebucks?

My case:
1) Scans the Items onto the POS Machine (i.e. R11k)
2) Forgot to give them the eBucks Card
3) Customer pays for Items using the Makro Virtual Vouchers (i.e. R10k) + FNB Credit Card (i.e. R1k)
4) Makro says no need to scan ebucks Card as they already linked to FNB
5) I wanted MAX ebucks of the R11k irrespective if I used my Makro Vouchers or Credit Card...

@Chris14, it's a moot point, unless you have a time machine to go back to hand them your eBucks card before they scanned the items there's nothing you can do about it. <edit>You'll have to tell us what happened when you get your eBucks awarded next month on the 8th. </edit>

If you had given them your card at the start then see GTX's post 2 posts above yours.

edit:
Is swipe rate determined by your reward level?
Yes.

I did exactly this, this weekend. Bought a fridge with a Makro virtual voucher. I've been rewarded the points already.

Chris, to be honest, you wont lose a lot! I bought a few months back something also in the same price range, I got peanuts back (that the 0.75% that makro rewards). Don't lose sleep over this

In my opinion a Petro Card is useless. You pay for the card, then you pay for every transaction and you pay interest... On Credit Card you pay nothing extra. I have AA Roadside Assistance for R5 a month on Gold Cheque Account. R5 is alot less than a linked Petro Card.
