No, since I don't use the debit card for anything other than drawing Cash@Till. I use my credit card for swiping.

It has to be activated to get the points.
I also only use the cheque card for cash@till, and cc for everything else. But I got it activated and it got me the points even though I do not use it :)

Interesting! I'll speak to my muppet and check that it's toggled on.

Update: Apparently it only makes a difference if you're Gold status. I've recently upgrade to Premier, so it no longer applies.

I am a gold member :p so that's why it works for me.
Anyway to work around it for the Premier guys?

Can someone please explain how to do a successful Cash@Till withdrawal please? I've never used the facility. Decided to try it the other day at local Spar. Keep in mind that I never use my cheque card, ever. All purchases are through CC.
So I buy some stuff on CC. I then finish that transaction and hand over my cheque card, ask for R1000 cash@till. She mutters something about I should've done it when I bought and swipes my card on the speed point, I enter my pin and she gives me my cash. The slip generated from the speed point looks exactly like a purchase type of slip. Is this correct? I suspect she may have put it through as a standard purchase (which will count against me with respect to earning points), but I can't be sure because I don't know what to expect as I've never done a cash@till before.

Thanks

That's how I do it.

Okay, so what differentiates my use of the cheque card for cash@till from a normal purchase? Or does using Cash@Till also mean I will get less ebuck reward points?

When I tried to do Cash@Till at Checkers with my credit card it was declined, so I used my cheque card.

If you're not buying anything, and are only trying to draw cash using your credit card, it will decline.

You can only draw cash only using your cheque card.

If you want to use your credit card then you have to combine the cash withdrawal with the purchase of something. I usually just go get some gum or something, and ask for R500 or whatever cashback, and pay using my credit card...

I do exactly the same. It's actually nice because now I don't need my cheque card for anything.

Solid info, thanks! I was wondering why it wlways declined, will give this a shot.

Doesn't this incur immediate interest on the credit card?

I too used to do this, however, bear in mind that this will incur interest from day 1.

You will not lose eBucks points if you use your cheque card for cash@till. It counts as a separate transaction and NOT as a card swipe. If you use your Credit Card you will pay immediate interest.

I usually pay the stuff I buy with my CC and then after the transaction is completed I give them the cheque card to do the Cash@Till (You need to buy something from them to do a Cash@Till) I have been doing this for months like this. Works perfect.

I didn't know Spar does Cash@Till. I always use PnP or Checkers Hyper.

I don't quite get how FNB connect discounts work.. are you supposed to subscribe to uncapped and then receive the discount back as eBucks?

I see, thanks.

Actually thinking about it, I may be confused.

I still think of the ADSL as FNB connect.

FNB connect ADSL, you only pay the discounted rate based on the previous month reward level. (up to 100% discount)
FNB connect SIM, you pay the full price, and get based on your reward level back as ebucks. (up to 40% back in ebucks)
