Quick question on the fuel spend. My previous credit card (Nedbank) handled fuel purchases in the same way as any other purchase (i.e. interest free until payment date). I received my FNB statement yesterday and it says fuel draws interest from the date of purchase (fortunately I hadn't bought any fuel as yet). Do you guys then buy fuel using the cheque card for ebucks or what would you suggest?
I buy with my CC and never get charged interest.
I have a petrol card too (because of the free AA benefit and the Drive me home service), and when I used to use that to put in fuel I was charged either a fee or interest, I can't remember.
I queried this stuff with my banker, and they insisted the cheapest way to buy fuel was with a petrol card. I gave up with the email chain when I tested it. And my CC was cheaper ;-)
You don't want to use your Cheque card for fuel, as you want your spend to be on your CC for points. Something like 100% of swipes on your CC - this rule is on the how to earn points page I think.
I'm on PW, so I'm not sure if the rules are the same. But they must be pretty similar...
