Tips to Boost your eBucks

Quick question on the fuel spend. My previous credit card (Nedbank) handled fuel purchases in the same way as any other purchase (i.e. interest free until payment date). I received my FNB statement yesterday and it says fuel draws interest from the date of purchase (fortunately I hadn't bought any fuel as yet). Do you guys then buy fuel using the cheque card for ebucks or what would you suggest?

I buy with my CC and never get charged interest.
I have a petrol card too (because of the free AA benefit and the Drive me home service), and when I used to use that to put in fuel I was charged either a fee or interest, I can't remember.
I queried this stuff with my banker, and they insisted the cheapest way to buy fuel was with a petrol card. I gave up with the email chain when I tested it. And my CC was cheaper ;-)

You don't want to use your Cheque card for fuel, as you want your spend to be on your CC for points. Something like 100% of swipes on your CC - this rule is on the how to earn points page I think.
I'm on PW, so I'm not sure if the rules are the same. But they must be pretty similar...

So I'm on RL5, for my gold accounts. But not earning very many ebucks. How can I maximize my earn? Shop more at Checkers? I buy petrol with my CC, what else?

Shopping at checkers helps - but it is unfortunately one of those thing where you need to spend more to earn more points...

I get 25% back on healthy items at Pick n pay through discovery vitality, so it's kinda tough to decide. Maybe just like household items and the like

I think it becomes difficult if you are juggling 2 different reward schemes.

Pay your rates and taxes via easypay (That counts as online shopping)

For my household it's easy. We do a monthly large shop. Checkers. All household groceries, cleaning detergents, toilet paper, meat, chicken, frozen goods, you name it, Checkers. There's between 6k and 8k eBucks a month. Weekly fresh healthy stuff, PnP with Discovery. All booze from Checkers Liquor shop. Fuel on CC is another 6k eBucks for me.

Why aren't you paying telkom and rates and taxes online?

If need to switch your ISP to Crystal Web so you can pay with Snapscan.

My ISP spend does come off my CC - Telkom is a debit order otherwise I'll forget to pay.

Good news for me, 1st time on rl5. Now to figure what I did differently to take me up from RL3.

Mine is a debit order as well, as you can't cancel it.

So when the 1st comes I log into the website and go pay them while doing my other bills.

Then the debit order never happens in the following month.

****

Actually I lie. I pay them when the invoice gets emailed which is around the 5th or so.

Ouch. When I signed up for my line, I asked that I dont want a debit order. I always ask for that when signing up anything, as I prefer not having debit orders.
Either stop order, or CC payments. Unfortunately some things I understand you cant get away without a debit order, so I still have a select few of those where absolutely no other way is possible.
